Chapter 6 I Wanna Be a Widow
At the Sweeney’s home.
Nicole was drunk, and Synthia was too worried to leave her alone at home. After putting her in bed. Synthia picked up her phone and called Kyra.
Kyra answered after only one ring.
“Kyra, look into someone for me.” Standing next to the window while gazing at the night view of Southdale, Synthia squinted slightly.
She briefed Kyra on what went down at the bar tonight.
Whether those punks targeted Nicole or her, she’d get to the bottom of it.
Or she’d stay worried.
She only cared about a handful of people, and Nicole happened to be one of them
“Kilig Bar?” Kyra said. “Alright. I’ll call you as soon as I know something.”
Synthia had faith in Kyra when handling things.
“Alright. Thanks, Kyra.”
Kyra stubbed out her cigarette and stood up from the couch. “Silly girl. You never have to thank me for anything. Come to think of it, don’t you find it too coincidental?”

“What?”
“I mean Darion,” Kyra smiled. “You never saw him even once during those three years when you were married, yet you bump into him twice. in a day right after you’re divorced? Either he’s stalking you or it’s fate.”
Synthia thought, “Fate?
“With a scumbag? Ugh, no, thanks.”
She scoffed, “Kyra, he’s already dead to me.”
Kyra shook her head and wanted to say something when Synthia added, “Kyra, don’t you think Wilson has been away for too long? Did he tell you when he’d come back?”
She had texted Wilson, but he didn’t reply.
“No.” Kyra looked down, a trace of uneasiness flashing across her eyes. Then she lit another cigarette, took a deep drag, and said calmly. “I heard something has come up with the branch office there, and he has to stay there for a while longer. He’s quite swamped these days but will reach out to you when he can.”
Synthia was slightly relieved after hearing this. After hanging up, she washed up and then lay in bed and fell asleep.
When she woke up, Nicole had already left, leaving her a note saying she’d go back to the company.
She washed up and headed to the hospital.
The second she walked out of the hospital elevator, a sprightly and vigorous old man rushed forward. “Finally, Dr. Duffy! Come here. Everyone, meet Dr. Duffy, the famous brain surgery genius! Let’s give her a warm welcome!”

“Welcome, Dr. Duffy!”
A few cameras were only centimeters away from her, flashing crazily before she could react.
She was stunned.
Everyone in Stratexon Hospital had learned about the surgery yesterday. After witnessing her performance, those who initially had doubted her were now filled with awe of her skills. Besides, Bryan, the star surgeon of Sanovita Hospital, was here today with his team. So, upon learning Synthia would give a speech, everyone who could make it gathered here.
“What? A speech?” Synthia felt a headache coming on.
When did she say she’d give a speech?
It was indeed her plan to hold a few seminars at the hospital, but had they forgotten that she had just gone onboard yesterday?”
Sure enough, things like empathy simply didn’t exist.
However, at this point, there was nothing she could do. As she stood on the podium in the multifunctional conference hall expressionlessly, she came to realize how cunning Keshawn and Manuel were. They had said yesterday that Bryan would take his team here today, but they had missed a piece of crucial information–rather than a medical team, it was a production crew for a variety show!
Was it too late for her to regret it now?
Two and a half hours later.
The speech that completely caught her off guard came to an end, but Bryan wasn’t satisfied. He broke the silence by inviting Synthia to join.

Synthia smiled, thinking, “Can I say no?
“It seems I don’t have a choice.”
She brushed them off, and finally, they were gone. Only then did she sigh helplessly, realizing she co
never slack off carefreely again.
“D–Dr. Duffy, hi.” Just then, a blushing medical student walked up to
her.
She looked up. “Hi. Do you have any questions that you don’t understand?”
“I–It’s not that.” He turned red as a beetroot. “I… just wanna know if you’re seeing anyone.”
“No.”
“Really? Great! Dr. Duffy, I have feelings…”
She smiled and interrupted him, “I’m not seeing anyone, but I’m a widow… No, wait. I meant I’m divorced.”
The student was stunned for a few seconds before running away while crying.
“Dr. Duffy, that’s a rather creative way of rejecting someone. You’re divorced?” It seemed Darion had been here for a while already. He strode toward Synthia and looked down at her, his eyes deep.
In fact, he had been here for a long time already.
He had planned on picking Synthia up and leaving, but to his surprise, Bryan was here for her speech together with the others. What was even

more surprising was someone actually confessed to her just because. she gave a speech.
For some reason, the two punks from last night came into his mind.
He had to admit that Synthia was attractive. Her face was pretty in a unique way. Her gaze alone was captivating enough.
“Yeah. Mr. Raymond, you don’t believe me?” Synthia rolled her eyes, “Many find it hard to believe, but honestly, I kinda wanna be a
widow.”
Not knowing he was the “late husband“, Darion found her words hard
to believe.
Synthia’s background was impeccable.
But her marriage status remained unknown.
Was she really divorced? Or was this her trick to keep him in suspense?
“Dr. Duffy, I’m not interested in your personal affairs.” Darian changed the subject. “The car’s ready. Let’s go. I’ll take you to see her.”
Synthia thought, “If you’re not interested, why did you ask me that much in the first place?
“What a nutjob.”
She took a deep breath to stop herself from throwing shade at him and then walked out.
Darion followed her.
He drove for about forty minutes before they arrived at the Raymond

Hospital.
Synthia knew the Raymond Hospital was the most luxurious private hospital in Southdale, but she was still shocked at the sight. There were private helipads, SVIP inpatient suites, entertainment zones, shopping areas, and so on…
It was almost like a mall.
She couldn’t help but sigh, thinking, “I bet it feels great to be rich.”
Darion drove to the SVIP area.
Just as the name indicated, the SVIP area was a super–VIP area consisting of standalone villas. Only the top–notch patients could stay here, and each of them was equipped with the best private medical
team.
He stopped at the entrance of SVIP Villa No.1.
After pulling over, he got out of the car, pulled open the passenger seat door for Synthia gentlemanly, and said. “We’re here, Dr. Duffy.”
Before she could get out, Joslyn wheeled a woman out of the villa.
“Mr. Raymond!” the maid exclaimed excitedly while wiping her tears. Wheeling the woman forward, she continued, “Mr. Raymond, you’re here. She knows you’re coming today and is so happy that she insists on greeting you here.”
Darion’s expression softened obviously, and even a trace of affection. flashed across his eyes, which was a first.
“My brother…”
The woman in the wheelchair was sickly pale, but she still tried her

best to call out to Darion.
Brother?
The woman with straight bangs was in a pink puffy dress, and even her hair accessories were pink. She looked like a princess from some fairy tale.
Synthia pondered, “Why did she address Darion as her brother?
“Could that be some disgusting pet name between them?”
At this, she actually had goosebumps on her arms.
She deliberately distanced herself from Darion. After getting out of the car, she stood aside, sizing up the woman in the wheelchair
imperceptibly.
“Dary, you’re here.”
