Chapter 22 We’re Even Now
“Hey, isn’t this Dr. Duffy?”
A mocking voice came from behind.
Synthia turned around and saw Joslyn.
Joslyn was wearing high heels, followed by a man. It was Eugene.
“Ms. Aguirre, you’re here.” Upon seeing Joslyn, the receptionist immediately changed her attitude, her face filled with a flattering smile. “Ms. Aguirre, you’re here to see Mr. Raymond, right? Does Mr. Conner come to take you upstairs?”
“Mr. Conner? So, he is Eugene Conner?” Nicole thought.
Nicole looked at Eugene. She heard of him before. He was the CFO of DR Group, the person in charge of the acquisition project this time. She was trying to contact Eugene.
But she failed.
She didn’t expect to run into him at the Raymond Group today.

“Yes, Dary asked me to come over. There will be acquisition meeting later.” Joslyn feigned a smile. “Dr. Duffy, you’re also here to see Dary, right? You might not know, Dary has given orders that no outsiders are allowed to enter DR Group. Do you want me to take you upstairs?”
Joslyn’s words made it clear that DR Group did not allow outsiders to enter, but she was not an outsider.

She could come as she pleased.
“Ms. Aguirre, Mr. Raymond was…” Eugene tried to explain.
After meeting Synthia several times, Eugene knew that Darion treated Synthia specially. He wanted to clarify, so Synthia wouldn’t
misunderstand the situation.
“No need,” Synthia refused. “Mr. Conner, can you help me pass a message to Mr. Raymond?”
Eugene responded. “Sure, Dr. Duffy, please go ahead.”
“I’ve repaid the favor I owed him.” Synthia curled her lips, speaking slowly. “From now on, we’re even. I hope Mr. Raymond will never show up in front of me again.”
“Dr. Duffy, well…” Eugene was taken aback.
He didn’t dare to tell Darion her words.
Synthia cut him off. “I won’t come to see him again, and I won’t appear
in front of him as well.”
After saying this, Synthia took Nicole and left DR Group.
Eugene wanted to stop her, but he didn’t dare.
After leaving DR Group and getting in the car, Synthia’s phone rang.
The call was from the Raymond’s mansion.
Synthia furrowed her brows, but she still answered it.
“Mrs. Raymond, it’s me…Madam Raymond asked me to call you. She misses you and would like to invite you to come over for dinner

tonight. Is that okay?”
It was the butler of the Raymond’s mansion, Preston.
The divorce was settled privately between her and Darion. But Becky let Preston call now. Did she know about the divorce?
“Sorry, I’m busy tonight.” Synthia pressed her temples, refusing the invitation. “I’ve been a bit busy recently. I’ll visit Madam Raymond once things settle down.”
Preston paused for a while. He probably went to ask Becky.
“Okay, Mrs. Raymond. Madam Raymond said that Mr. Raymond had already returned from abroad. If you encounter any trouble, just talk to Mr. Raymond. He will definitely help you.”
Darion?
Synthia thought she was indeed in trouble, but this trouble came from.
Darion.
Synthia quickly ended the conversation and hung up the phone.
“Coco, don’t worry about the company’s issues. I’ll find a way to help. you.” Synthia turned to comfort Nicole. “I still have some money, and I’ll give it to you. You can take it as a loan or an investment.”
Nicole shook her head. “Synthy, I’m not short of money. But to be honest, my company is indeed facing a crisis.”
If Synthia didn’t happen to answer her assistant’s call, Nicole wouldn’t even consider telling Synthia.
But since Synthia already knew, she didn’t plan to hide it.

“What kind of crisis?” Synthia asked.
“The live streaming industry has many potential risks. The platform’s first–year tax exemption is an unspoken rule. But if someone really investigates it, everyone who got involved is not innocent.”
Synthia immediately understood. “So, they’re using the unspoken rules?”
“That’s right,” Nicole sighed. “You know, my company has several famous streamers, and I only managed them in person. For other streamers, I didn’t have the energy to take care of all of them. Now the problem is about this group of people.”
Top streamers had a steady audience and the ability to make money. If they were smart enough, they wouldn’t take the risk of betraying her, because it might ruin their future career.
But smaller streamers were different.
They needed more attention and fame, so they would chase it in all kinds of ways.
Betrayal and using others were common yet very effective means of achieving their goals.
“I understand,” Synthia said. “Greenfairy Capital used your employees against you. Even if they can’t destroy your company, you’re already caught up in the scandal. So, the investors and business partners will all consider this potential risk. Most importantly, the companies behind them are Vantedge Capital and DR Group.”
Nicole sighed, “Yes, I’m not afraid of anything else, I’m only afraid of DR Group.”
A month ago, DR Group secretly built Vantedge Capital and planned

to acquire several major live streaming companies in Southdale. Greenfairy Capital was one of them. Vantedge Capital has completed the acquisition of these major live streaming companies and hast become the major shareholder of them so far, except for Nicole’s
company.
Vantedge Capital didn’t take action itself, instead, they let other companies they acquired gang up on Nicole.
The methods of business competition were always brutal.
Even if Nicole could survive the attacks of these companies, she was just running a small business. How could she possibly go up against the capital power behind those streaming giants, like the DR Group?”
The profits in this market were limited, and whoever controlled these major live streaming companies was essentially in control of the whole industry.
Nicole wasn’t naive. She knew that DR Group’s acquisition of her company was inevitable, and she couldn’t hold on for a long time.
But she just couldn’t give up easily.

Coco Entertainment was even more important than her own life.
“If you have other stronger company backing you, will that help?” Synthia suddenly asked. “In that case, even if DR Group wants to acquire your company, it might fail, right?”
Of course, it made sense.
But in Southdale, how could she find a company stronger than DR Group?
“That’s right,” Nicole agreed. “But Synthy, the problem now is that I

can’t find any stronger company to cooperate with. Even if I could find one. I couldn’t make the big companies fight each other. Their interests. are aligned.”
Big companies tended to collaborate with each other to destroy small companies.
Therefore, Nicole was very clear that she was on a path to certain failure, but she still had to go down that path.
“Just try our best,” Synthia said. “I’ll try to find an investor. I have to go. to the hospital later. Call me if anything happens.”
Nicole nodded. “Okay.”
Even if she couldn’t keep the company in the end, she should try her best, just as Synthia said.
After seeing Nicole off, Synthia took out her phone and called Wilson.
