Chapter 18 Did She Misunderstand Darion?
Southdale was a big city. Synthia hadn’t expected to run into Darion
here.
She didn’t believe it was a coincidence.
Moreover, so many coincidences made things dubious.
Darion almost laughed because of anger.
“Stalk you?” He curled his thin lips and said coldly, “Dr. Duffy, you are not that important.”
With that, he frowned.
Darion could smell alcohol on Synthia.
He wanted to ask Synthia if she had drunk, but thinking about their last argument, he held back.
“Really?” Synthia didn’t believe it. “If you are not stalking me, how come you are here? Mr. Raymond, don’t tell me it’s just a coincidence and that we happen to dine here at the same time.”
She couldn’t believe it was a coincidence.
With Darion’s power, he could easily find Synthia in Southdale. After all, as soon as Wilson released her whereabouts, Darion came back to the country and contacted her right away.
Synthia still believed Darion was stalking her.
“Hey, Dr. Duffy, you are so…” Eugene tried to speak up for Darion.

Synthia smiled, “Mr. Conner, he has a mouth.”
She wanted to hear Darion’s explanation.
Eugene was stunned.
He thought, “She’s humiliating Mr. Raymond, but he’s not angry at all!”
“Dr. Duffy, you are so good at overestimating yourself. I’m impressed.” Darion darkened his face. Then, he turned around and told Eugene, “Why are you still here? Are you waiting for her to kick you out?”
Eugene stuttered, “What? Well… Mr. Raymond, but we…”
Darion glanced at him coldly.
Eugene knew that Darion always made decisions without explaining anything.
Since it was Darion’s order, Eugene stopped talking back. They walked to a private room, and the door was opened from inside. Rylan came to greet them by the door.
With the door open, Synthia could see other people inside the private
room.
She was stunned.
It seemed she really misunderstood Darion.
There had been people in that private room when Synthia arrived. Moreover, this restaurant didn’t take walk–in customers, which meant Darion and those people made a reservation beforehand.

“Did I misunderstand Darion?”
She felt so embarrassed, her cheeks burning.
“Darling, what are you looking at?” Nicole came back from the restroom and wrapped her arm around Synthia’s waist. Then, she raised Synthia’s chin with a smile, her warm breath landing on Synthia’s face.
Darion went into the private room and saw this from the side. It looked like Nicole was giving Synthia an intimate hug.
He frowned tightly, which he rarely did.
Things went out of his expectations.
Eugene closed the door gently. Then, he felt a cold gaze staring at him.
He was confused.
He wondered, “Did I do anything wrong again?
“Mr. Raymond cares about his privacy and doesn’t like being watched.
“What’s wrong with him today?”
Darion took off his coat and said calmly, “Don’t you guys feel stuffy in here?”
Everyone went silent.
They didn’t feel stuffy at all.
Eugene was about to shake his head. But suddenly, he figured it out, his lips twitched. He rubbed his hands and said embarrassedly, “I do. It will rain soon, so it’s so stuffy today. Let’s open the door, shall we?” With that, he laughed drily.

Eugene finally figured it out.
He just closed the door to not this private room but his boss‘ love and happiness.
Rylan took a sip of wine from his glass and said slowly, “Darion, do you know that girl out there?”
Darion’s expression was serious. “No.”
Synthia said that they were only strangers.
“I see.” Rylan laughed. “Just pretend that I didn’t ask. Shall we drink?”
He believed that Darion needed alcohol.
As he had expected, Darion didn’t refuse.

Because of Darion, Synthia didn’t stay in the restaurant for long. After paying for the meal, Nicole took her to the campus and then to the shopping mall.

They bought a lot of things. Nicole was finally satisfied and left the mall.
“Darling, I’m an abandoned queen with nowhere to go. May I stay the night with you? Please?” In the passenger seat, Nicole playfully raised her fists like a cat, trying to act cute.
Synthia smiled, “Sure. You just reminded me. I haven’t lived in the place Kyra gave me yet. Let’s live there tonight.”
“Well, I’m too shy to live in your new place,” Nicole said with a smile. “Because I want to order some strong men to spend the night with me.

“No,” Synthia refused.
Nicole was still trying to persuade her. Synthia arrived at the neighborhood according to the address Kyra sent her.
“Is this… Greystone Heights?”
As soon as they arrived, Nicole was shocked.
“Yes. Why?” Synthia asked.
Nicole said, “You have no idea? It’s the top wealthy neighborhood in Southdale! Normal people can’t even afford the smallest house here! Darling, I don’t want to work hard anymore.”
Synthia raised her eyebrows. “Alright. Be my kept woman.”
Nicole didn’t hesitate to ask, and Synthia didn’t hesitate to agree.
Synthia had money anyway.
“Well, that would be great, but I still want to rely on myself.” Nicole raised her hand to feel the gentle night breeze. She said word by word. “One day, I will be able to survive in this city and live a decent life like a normal person.”
This was her first and only wish.
She had lost her mother.
So, she had to work harder and love herself more.
“Coco,” Synthia called her name.
Nicole turned her head. The night air was clear, and the moonlight was
beautiful. She smiled, “Yes?”
“Did something happen?” Synthia could tell that Nicole wasn’t happy.
At least, Nicole wasn’t as happy as she seemed to be.
But Synthia didn’t ask since Nicole didn’t say anything.
She only wanted Nicole to cheer up.
“No.” Nicole lowered her eyes and said with a smile. “I’m just exhausted and need some rest. I’m fine. Otherwise, I would tell you.”
She wanted to tell Synthia about her mother’s death, but she didn’t.
It was her fate, not Synthia’s.
She had to face it alone anyway.
“Speaking of which, you said your company needed an investment, right?” Synthia was holding the steering wheel. “Did you find an investor? I have some money. Maybe I can invest the money and be your partner?”
Nicole built up a company.
Synthia had told Nicole that she had money. She didn’t care whether Nicole wanted it as an investment or just needed to borrow some.
She trusted Nicole wholeheartedly.
But because of that, Nicole had never asked for her help.
It was because Nicole cherished the pureness of their friendship.
She didn’t want money to be involved in their friendship.
