Chapter 17 He Shouldn’t Care About Synthia
“Quit making wild guesses!” Synthia took a deep breath. “He’s just a two–timer! Darling, remember, men are all womanizers. Don’t trust their sweet words.”
Darion was not young anymore.
Nicole sounded sophisticated, but she was simple and had never dated any man. Synthia was really worried that Nicole would trust men casily.
“No way…”
Nicole’s eyes wandered and landed unintentionally on a corner seat by the window. She was still holding her wine glass when she said, “Did I see it wrong?”
Synthia didn’t know what Nicole was talking about, so she looked in the same direction and saw a familiar figure from behind.
“Darling, isn’t that man like Wilson?” Nicole started to feel tipsy, pointing at the familiar figure.
Before she could finish her words, the man had disappeared.
Synthia thought, “Yes, that man looks like Wilson.
“But Wilson is abroad.”
“Darling, you drank too much.” Synthia waved her hand in front of Nicole’s face and shook her head. “Wilson is abroad. It can’t be him. But it’s strange.”
“What is strange?”
“I haven’t been able to contact Wilson for a long while. My call never went through.”
With that. Synthia took out her phone, found Wilson’s number, and
made a call.
Soon, a machinery voice sounded.
“Sorry, the phone you dialed is powered off…”
It was the same answer.
“See?” Synthia sighed. “Wilson is abroad alone. Things must have been hard for him. When he comes back, let’s go to his home and have a meal together. To be honest, I miss his cooking.”
Synthia’s grandma adopted Wilson and Kyra, but they were both nice. to Synthia, especially Wilson. Back then, Synthia praised his cooking. After that, he would cook for Synthia whenever he was in the country.
“Cool! I miss Wilson, too.” Nicole nodded seriously. “To be more precise. I miss his cooking.”
They chit–chatted and didn’t notice the man who was trying his best to hide in the corner.
The man was wearing a black coat and pulled his baseball cap low. His eyes were concealed in the shadow that was cast by the brim of the baseball cap, so no one could see how bright his eyes were.
He stood in the corner and watched for a long while.
Then, he turned around and left through the side door. After he came out, he took off the baseball cap, and his angular face was revealed. He
took out a pair of gold–rimmed glasses and put them on.
After that, he took out his phone and called Kyra.
“I think Synthy saw me.” Wilson leaned against his car and said in a hoarse voice, “Help me deal with it and delete all the security footage around. No matter what she asks, just tell her that I’m abroad.”
Kyra stayed silent for a while, not knowing how to satirize Wilson.
She sent people to protect Synthia, so she knew Synthia’s whereabouts. That was why Wilson also knew Synthia’s whereabouts. Knowing that Synthia and Nicole would dine at this restaurant, Wilson couldn’t sit still.
Kyra sighed. “Wilson, when on earth do you plan to tell her?”
Wilson lowered his eyes. He opened the car door and threw the baseball cap onto the passenger seat.
“Never, if possible.”
With that, Wilson hung up the phone. He got in his car and started it. Then, he saw a black Maybach pulled up across from him.
Wilson frowned subconsciously when he saw that car.
He thought, “Is it him?”
As Wilson had expected, soon, Darion got out of the car. Wilson grabbed the steering wheel tightly. The next second, he floored the accelerator and charged at Darion.
“Mr. Raymond, watch out!” Eugene shouted as soon as he saw the car charging at Darion.

Darion was standing with his back facing the car, so he couldn’t see it.
Hearing Eugene’s shout, Darion turned his head subconsciously and saw an ordinary black car speeding toward him. The headlight dazzled his eyes.
But the car didn’t hit Darion. At the very last moment, it swerved and skimmed past him.
Beep!
Wilson pressed the honk with all his strength. Then, he poked his head out of the car window and cursed, “Why are you in the middle of the road? Dig your grave somewhere else, not in front of me!”
Then, the car sped away.
Eugene was almost scared to death, rushing over to check on Darion. He hadn’t felt relieved until he made sure that Darion didn’t get hurt.
“Mr. Raymond, as long as you didn’t get hurt.” Eugene breathed a sigh of relief. “That drunkard was ridiculous! He almost ran over you, but he blamed you.”
Eugene thought it was only a drunkard.
But Darion didn’t think so.
A drunkard couldn’t be so precise and yanked the steering wheel to dodge him right before the car ran over him.
The most important thing was that there was no smell of alcohol.
“Check all the surveillance footage around,” Darion ordered. “And check who’s the owner of that car. I want to know all their information as soon as possible.”
“Mr. Raymond, you think that wasn’t an accident?” Eugene asked. “But you decided at the last minute to come and meet the professor. No one would be able to know about it.”
But there were still chances that someone had known.
Moreover, if someone was targeting Darion, they would put some effort into checking his whereabouts.
“Has Rylan arrived?” Darion asked.
Eugene nodded. “Yes. I have contacted his assistant. He’s in the private room. By the way, Mr. Raymond, shall we tell the public that you donated a research building?”
A few days ago, Darion donated a research building to the University of Southdale. He also set up a foundation for neurosurgery study.
“No.” Darion shook his head. “Keep it a secret and don’t tell anyone.”
“Yes, Mr. Raymond…” Eugene suddenly said, “Look, Mr. Raymond. Isn’t that Dr. Duffy? What a coincidence! Is she dining here?”
Eugene hadn’t expected to run into Synthia here when Darion decided. at the last minute to eat with Rylan.
Darion also saw Synthia.
Synthia had a perfect face with fair skin. She needed no effort to make herself look stunning. She was smiling at the woman sitting across from her.
Darion wondered who that woman was.
For some reason, he recalled what he had heard on the phone.
Chapter 17 He Shou Can About Synthia
He thought, “Is she the woman Synthia will marry?
“Synthia doesn’t care about me and always hangs up my call. But she’s so happy talking to another woman! Look at her shining eyes!
“Damn it!”
Darion’s face darkened immediately. But soon, he realized something. Wrong. He shouldn’t care about Synthia.
He couldn’t help but think, “Why do I care about that ruthless woman?
“I’m so ridiculous!”
But Eugene interpreted Darion’s silence differently. He believed that Darion was too shy to talk to Synthia because she was special to Darion. So, Eugene decided to greet Synthia on behalf of his boss.
Nicole had drunk too much and happened to go to the restroom.
“Dr. Duffy, what a coincidence,” Eugene walked to Synthia and greeted her with a smile. “Was that woman your friend?”
Eugene thought that woman looked familiar, but he couldn’t tell why.
He wondered if they had met before.
“Why is it you again?” Synthia impatient, her unfriendly gaze
