Wasn’t it ridiculous that a woman didn’t get to see her husband even once in three years of marriage?
Synthia Duffy found herself in such a laughable position.
After Darion Raymond married her, he went abroad with Joslyn Aguirre, his lover, and only returned today.
The first thing he did was divorce her.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Duffy. Mr. Raymond has a last–minute meeting, which is very important. He entrusts me with this,” said Kaiden Jensen, Darion’s assistant, who handed the divorce agreement to Synthia.
Darion hadn’t signed it.
Synthia put down the coffee and signed it without even reading it.
“There you go. Just have him sign it later,” she said. Remembering something, she added, “You can mail me the papers after he signs.”
Kaiden put away the papers as well as two copies of her ID photo for the paperwork. “Mr. Raymond has already thought of this. I’ll deliver the papers to you personally, Ms. Duffy.”
Synthia nodded. “Alright. I’m off then.”
“Wait…” Kaiden stopped her and handed her a file bag.
There was a property deed and a bank card inside.
Glancing at her, Kaiden said, “The property is the Raymond’s villa

where you lived before, and there’s 1.5 million dollars in the card. Mr. Raymond wants you to have this.”
The Raymond’s villa itself was worth 15 million dollars, and Darion gave her 1.5 million dollars on top of that.
She sighed, thinking, “So, this is how Darion makes it up to me?”
“That won’t be necessary. Tell him I say thanks,” she said casually without taking the file bag. “I appreciate it, but we had a prenuptial agreement. I’ll leave with nothing.”
Just because Darion offered it didn’t mean she’d accept it.
After the divorce, they’d be strangers.
Though their marriage was in name only, Darion didn’t owe her anything. If she took his money, she’d feel that she owed him instead.
She left before Kaiden could say anything anymore.
After walking out of the door, she got into a Bentley SUV parked by the roadside!
Sitting in the passenger seat, she fastened her seatbelt and said to Kyra Duffy, her sister, “Let’s go, Kyra.”
At first glance, anyone could tell Kyra was a business elite. She had rolled up the sleeves of the navy–blue blazer, revealing a red string bracelet on her right wrist she had worn all year long. She had fair skin, and on her straight nose was a pair of gold–rimmed glasses.
She started the car in silence while resting her right hand on the steering wheel.
Synthia didn’t notice her furrowed brows.

Pressing her lips, she asked, “You’re now single again?”
“Yeah,” Synthia smiled. “You know the marriage was a mistake in the first place. If it weren’t for Grandma, I would never have married a complete stranger.”
She had married Darion three years ago, only to discover later that he was the richest man in Southdale. Darion went abroad shortly after they registered for marriage, leaving her to live alone in his villa and never coming back once.
He came back a week ago, and the first thing he did was have Kaiden reach out to her for a divorce.
Getting rid of the pointless marriage was actually a relief.
Silence filled the car.
Driving. Kyra sighed. “Maybe the divorce is for the best. What’s your plan now? Going back to the hospital? Wilson has already spread the word about your comeback ever since you decided to get a divorce. Many people have been asking about you–after all, you’re Alice, the famous brain surgery genius.”
Only a handful of people knew Synthia was Alice Sutton, the exclusive disciple of Lionel Becker, the world–renowned neurosurgeon.
She was born to be a doctor.
However, she suddenly announced her retirement three years ago.
It immediately sparked persistent speculation.
“Yes,” Synthia smiled, raised her left hand, and observed it carefully. “I gave myself three years to fulfill Grandma’s wish. Time’s up, and I should go back to where I belong.”

Honestly, she had always been curious. Her grandmother, an ordinary woman from a small town, somehow was friends with the Raymond family and arranged for the marriage.
And the weirdest part was–the Raymond family went along.
Maneuvering the steering wheel, Kyra said, “I’ve made the
arrangements already. No one at the hospital will know you’re Alice. If you need anything, go to Mr. Bonilla. He’ll make sure you’re taken care of.”
“You’re the best, Kyra,” Synthia smiled while looping her arm around Kyra’s, smiling sweetly.
Kyra smiled dotingly, a trace of subtle worry flashing across her eyes.
It vanished within a second.
Then she said, “I presumed that since you’re divorced, you’ll move out of the villa, right? I bought a penthouse before, and I’ve already had someone clean it. It’s got everything. The door code is texted to your already. After you get there, you
n make a list of what you need, and I’ll have someone buy them all.”
It was so typical of Kyra.
She was always well–prepared and omnipotent.
Thanks to her, Synthia didn’t have to lift a finger.
“Kyra, you’re so perfect. What do I have to do to marry you?” Synthia smiled and picked up her phone, seeing the code sent by Kyra.
She indeed hadn’t thought about where she would live.
Kyra flicked her long hair with a smile. “First of all, you gotta be a
dude. I’m straight, you know.”
“Gosh, Kyra, really? This is such sad news. Well, there’s always Wilson, right?” Synthia joked, stroking Kyra’s arm deliberately affectedly.
Wilson Duffy was their elder brother.
Synthia’s grandmother had adopted Wilson and Kyra in the small town, and Synthia grew up with them. Wilson was on a business trip abroad, so he couldn’t come to pick her up today.
As they chatted, they soon arrived at Stratexon Hospital.
She got out of the car, and then Kyra drove away.
Then she called Keshawn Bonilla, the hospital’s director. He was in a meeting and asked her to wait for him on the first floor.
As she hung up, a new notification popped up on her phone.
“Great news! DR Group has expanded its business into the live- streaming industry! Vantedge Capital, the group’s newest subsidiary, has officially signed with Joslyn Aguirre, the top live streamer.”
Joslyn Aguirre?
The name rang a bell, but she couldn’t quite place it.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Duffy. I was caught up in a meeting.” Keshawn walked toward her quickly. “Come with me to the Neurosurgery Department.”
She put her phone away. “OK. Thank you, Mr. Bonilla.”

She had always been the one being learned from.
But she didn’t react much.
Nodding, she said, “Alright. Let’s go.”
There was no change in her tone, and Keshawn didn’t think much of it. He led her toward the Neurosurgery Department.
