Chapter 4 Steal the Spotlight
From the moment Felton realized the woman was Anastasia, he couldn’t look away.
She had been missing for three days.
He had people searching everywhere, tried everything, but there was no sign of her.
At first, Felton thought she deserved something for all she had done for their marriage. But now, he wasn’t sure.
He glanced at the man beside her, his expression darkening with scorn.
“No wonder I couldn’t find her. She’s already latched onto that guy. She hustled her way into the Gutierrez family. Of course, she’s not gonna be easy,” he thought darkly.
Many had been impressed by Raquel’s looks, but the moment Anastasia showed up, all attention shifted to her.
Raquel struggled to keep her smile. She glanced at Felton, only to see he was still staring at Anastasia.
Raquel gave a soft laugh and put on an apologetic look. “Felty, my feet are killing me. Can we move over there for a bit?”
Felton noticed the redness on her heels. He nodded and helped her toward the dessert table.
Hobert had been watching them. He nudged Anastasia’s arm.
She gave them a glance, then went right back to her conversation with other guests.
Hobert sighed, thinking, “Anastasia’s great at a lot of things. Just not this. If I were her, seeing those two parading around like that, I’d have torn the place just to ruin their night.”
A man spotted Hobert and shoved through the crowd, gripping a microphone.
“Sir, are you the president of Falcon Group? What’s your relationship with this lady?
“Are you the new CEO of Regent Entertainment?” The man’s voice shook with excitement.
“Excuse me,” Hobert said, hesitating.
He was ready to brush it off, but the moment he locked eyes with Felton, he changed his mind. Then he shot Felton a sharp look.
“Her? Yeah, she’s my girlfriend.”
The moment the words left Hobert’s lips, the crowd lost it.
Someone screamed, “Oh my god! Mr. Carney has a girlfriend!”
The noise finally got Anastasia’s attention. She turned and stared into Hobert’s face. “What’s going on?”
Hobert touched his nose, looking a little sheepish. “Nothing. Just told them you’re my girlfriend.”
She pinched his waist hard. “Oh? You didn’t tell me.”
Hobert winced, rubbing the sore spot, his eyes full of quiet pleading.
Felton watched them, his expression darkening.
Raquel hated that Anastasia kept the spotlight. So she swung her arm and knocked over a champagne glass.
The sharp crash snapped everyone’s attention back to Raquel. She smiled and said softly, “Oh no! I must’ve knocked it over by accident.”
Felton’s frown eased. He took her hand, looking her over.
“You okay? Did you cut yourself?”
“I’m fine, Felty. Just the broken glass…” She bit her lip, looking bothered, but there was a flicker of triumph in her eyes. Then she shot Anastasia a sharp look.
