Chapter 7
Damien’s heart sank as he lowered his head, battling his thoughts for a long time.
When he looked up, his face was innocent and clear of guilt.
“Of course not. We’re husband and wife, transparent with each other.”
Norah glanced past his shoulder at the nearby ashes.
The last flicker of hope inside her died the moment Damien chose to hide. the truth again.
He noticed the scab on her palm. “Norah, how did you hurt your hand?”
Norah wanted to say it was because of him.
“A dog bit me.”
Damien, full of concern, fetched the first aid kit to clean and bandage her hand on one of his knees.
“You’re always so careless. I don’t know what you’d do without me.
Norah sneered to herself.
She once thought he was her shelter, only to realize he brought the
storms.
“By the way, my assistant told me you sold all the gifts I gave you.”
Norah looked away. “It’s nothing, they’re old. I want to get new ones.
Damien tied the bandage carefully. “If you don’t like them, throw them

away. I’ll buy you new ones, okay?”
He stood and pulled Norah into a hug, his breath lingering in her ears.
“Norah, I want to throw a welcome party for Tessa on Monday.”
When she stayed silent, he added, “You’ve always wanted to see the stars in Oman, right? After the party, the three of us can go see the stars. How about that?”
The Green Mountain of Oman was over 2,000 meters above sea level and was a perfect spot for stargazing.
Norah had always wanted to go.
But just yesterday, she received an email from the UK.
“Ms. Norah, we regret to inform you that your blue star, as observed by the observatory, will fall in three days.”
The love she once thought unbreakable was already full of cracks.
The star she believed would never fall was about to fall.
Damien pulled her from his embrace. “Norah, if you’re unhappy, we can skip the welcome party…”
Norah sobered up and said calmly, “Of course, we should hold the welcome party. I’ll handle the arrangements myself.”
Surprise lit up Damien’s eyes as he hugged her tighter.
“Whatever you say, Norah. I’ve got more surprises planned for you.”
He intended to formally give her their legal marriage certificate that day, making them truly husband and wife.
Chapter 7
Using the excuse of being busy with Tessa’s adoption paperwork, Damien didn’t come home all weekend.
It gave Norah plenty of time.
For two days, Dakota kept sending her messages.
Sometimes a blurry photo of a man and woman making love, sometimes a sexually explicit video, and sometimes bragging voice notes.
“Norah, so what if Damien keeps saying he loves you? Didn’t he fall right at my feet with just a snap of my fingers?
“Damien mentioned you’re holding a welcome party for Tessa. I wonder if I can come? After all, Tessa and I have a… very special relationship.”
Norah ignored these blatant provocations but saved every message.
Damien planned a surprise for her, so she figured she should return the
favor.
If she was throwing a welcome party for Tessa, it had to be grand.
Norah sent invitations not only to Damien’s close friends and key clients. but also to distant relatives and friends of his family.
Of course, Dakota got an invite too.
At first, Damien refused to let her come, but after Dakota promised not to cause trouble for Norah, he relented,
“The lawyer contacted you, right? On Monday, we’ll go file for divorce.”
