Chapter 6
It wasn’t until the afternoon after the wedding that Roman found the runaway Ivy, hiding next to a pile of garbage.]
She was muttering to herself, “I’m not the bride, I’m not the bride…“[]
Roman called her name several times, but she didn’t respond. He had no choice but to have her taken to the hospital.]
He also instructed his bodyguards to investigate what had happened to Ivy from yesterday until now.[]
Looking at the sleeping Ivy, Roman’s thoughts involuntarily turned to me.]

Just as he was about to throw his phone, he noticed Ivy stirring awake.]

Hearing this, a strange look flashed in Ivy’s eyes.[]
Roman caught that momentary change but had no time to think about it. He hurriedly took Ivy with him to the company.
Seeing Ivy’s forehead beaded with sweat and her unsettled state, he reassured her, “Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to you…“]
Ivy nodded stiffly in response.
When they arrived at the company, the buzzing conversations among colleagues instantly ceased.
Chapter 6
The client representative got straight to the point: “Mr. Thornfield, who exactly was responsible for the One City project? I’d like to have a word with them.“]
Roman hesitated briefly, then stood in front of Ivy and said coldly, “Serena Chase has been in charge of this project all along. I’ll have her give you an explanation.“]
Looking around without seeing me, he added irritably, “Where is Serena? Is she skipping work again? I won’t let her off easily this time.”
HR immediately responded, “Mr. Thornfield, Manager Chase resigned a month ago.“]
At this, the client representative became furious: “Mr. Thornfield, are you suggesting I should seek an explanation from someone who no longer works here?”
“Is this how your company handles issues? I think there’s nothing more to discuss. The $100,000,000 in damages from this project will be entirely your responsibility.“]
With With that, the client representative left angrily.
Roman’s face instantly went pale. He wanted to explain something, but couldn’t get a single word out, and could only watch helplessly as the client representative walked away.[]
