But those wounds never really healed.
“Alright, then we won’t sign.” Vaughn put away the papers, “But if you refuse this share transfer, the Keith Group will end up in Ethan’s hands. This is your family’s business. Are you sure you want to just give it away?”
It wasn’t until this moment that Adelia finally snapped out of it.
Her cloudy eyes gradually cleared up.
“Vaughn, could you do me a favor?”
“You said.”
Adelia sat up and said seriously, “Ethan ruled everything in the capital. I didn’t want him to show up in front of me again.”
Vaughn got her hint.
“You wanted me to ruin him?”
Adelia nodded.
Her mom once told her, People from rich families, hardly any of them are decent.
Back then, before she married Ethan, she even went to her mother’s grave and told her, I’ve met that special person.
She firmly believed he wouldn’t let her down.
But what about in the end?

He gave her a fake marriage certificate, fooled her like she was dumb, and had her totally confused.
In four years, she didn’t get a bit of his true feelings. Instead, he just left her hurt all over.
Adelia’s hand gripped the sheet hard.
She totally hated Ethan.
Also hated my stupid self.
“I can help you,” Vaughn said slowly, “but I had conditions too.”
Adelia paused for a moment.
Just when she was worried about what Vaughn would say next that might make her give herself to him, he actually reached out and patted her head, saying gently, “My condition is, don’t always keep sad things to yourself from now on.
“As a friend, I could help you share your troubles too.”

For a long time after that, Adelia didn’t see Vaughn again.
He left early and came back late, seemed to get really busy all of a sudden.
And Adelia didn’t dare get on the cruise again, afraid that Ethan had planted someone on it.
Just like that, more than half a month went by.
One late night, Adelia suddenly got a call from Vaughn’s assistant.
The other person said anxiously, “Ms. Keith, something’s wrong,

something happened to Mr. Anderson, can you come over?”
Adelia sat up suddenly, “What happened?”
“It was hard to explain over the phone, so I sent you the address…‘

After hanging up, Adelia quickly changed her clothes and headed to the place the assistant sent.
The night was as thick as ink.
The car drove all the way and finally stopped in front of a suburban villa.
Adelia saw from far away that there were more than ten men in black guarding outside, watching closely and looking really intimidating.
She had just gotten out of the car when her assistant rushed over and said anxiously, “Ms. Keith, Ethan took Mr. Anderson hostage. He said if you still refuse to see him, he’ll do something to Mr. Anderson…”
“Where’s Vaughn?” Adelia asked eagerly
“Right inside the villa,” the assistant said, out of breath. “During this time, Mr. Anderson was going head–to–head with him in business and took down several companies under the Fargeat Group. He hated Mr. Anderson so much… Ms. Keith, Mr. Anderson actually warned me not to call you over, but I was really worried about his safety.”
Adelia heard that and said without hesitation, “Don’t worry, I won’t let
Ethan hurt him.”
She walked up to the row of men in black and said in a cool voice, “Tell Ethan to let Vaughn go. When I see him, I’ll go in with you.”
