Chapter 12
Two months later, Gwen was pregnant.
The moment she found out she was pregnant, her head that had been in the clouds finally came back down to earth.
She couldn’t wait and took the pregnancy test to find Ethan, telling him the good news.
“Ethan, you’re going to be a dad!”
Ethan took the pregnancy test, his long fingers gently rubbing it twice.
“You didn’t seem very happy?” Gwen wrapped her arms around his neck, “Is it because Adelia left and you started missing her again?”
Ethan’s hand on her waist tightened a little, “Stop overthinking, it’s not good for the baby.”
He calmed Gwen down with a few words, then told her he’d made an appointment for a prenatal checkup the day after tomorrow and would
take her there!
At night, Ethan ran to the balcony and lit a cigarette.
In the swirling smoke, he thought of Adelia again.
Adelia didn’t reach out to him after she went abroad.
He heard from his assistant that Adelia had already settled in Britain, and told him to send a photo of Adelia every day.
I was just thinking about it when the new photo came in.

Ethan opened the photo and saw Adelia squatting by the road, feeding a kitten. The sunlight outlined her in a soft glow.
He gently touched the photo of Adelia.
He didn’t go to see Adelia during this time, not because he didn’t miss her, but because he hadn’t finished his plan yet.
He knew very well.
If he went to find Adelia now, he couldn’t give her anything real except a weak, useless sorry.
He only had the right to face Adelia again after dealing with everyone who had hurt her.

Two days later, Ethan’s assistant came to pick Gwen up for a prenatal checkup.
Gwen was on the phone with her sister the whole way, and she just couldn’t stop smiling.
“I hoped I was having a boy, so when he grew up he could take over the family business and help take some pressure off Ethan…‘
”
The assistant looked at her smiling face through the rearview mirror, a trace of sympathy flashing in his eyes.
After a long time, the car stopped in front of a building.
“Mrs. Fargeat, arrived.”
Gwen took a look at the empty road outside the window, and her smile froze on her face.

“Is this the hospital?”
“Yeah, it was a private hospital that Mr. Fargeat contacted just for you.”
The assistant calmly opened the car door for Gwen and led her into the building ahead.
Gwen didn’t think too much at first.
The further I went in, the weirder it felt.
This “hospital” was so quiet it was kind of creepy.
While she was thinking, the assistant took her into a consulting room.
“Mrs. Fargeat, you just rest here for a bit, I’ll go get the doctor.”
Gwen looked around.
Who knew, the next second, I heard the door lock.
She suddenly felt something was wrong and dashed to the door: “Why” did you lock the door?”
Almost as soon as he finished speaking, the ceiling above suddenly opened up, and bucket after bucket of stinky black dog’s blood was poured all over Gwen!
“Ah-”
Gwen held her head and let out a piercing scream.
She collapsed into the pool of blood, shakily took out her phone, and called Ethan.
After the beep, the call went through.

“Ethan, it’s me!” Gwen’s voice was shaking, and she was almost falling apart. “Your assistant locked me up, tell him to let me out!”
There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds.
Then, Ethan’s cold voice came.
“It wasn’t him who wanted to lock you up, it was me.”
“What?”
“You lied about having a terminal illness and framed Adelia for cursing you, which made her lose her baby.” Ethan said word by word, “Now, I want you to know what it feels like to lose a child too.”
Gwen stood there, not believing her ears.
Did Ethan know about her framing Adelia?
When did you find out?
“Gwen, you and the baby in your belly shouldn’t exist in this world.” Ethan’s voice was icy. “Black dog blood drives away evil. Maybe it could even wash away the malice in your heart.”
“At that time you suggested locking Adelia up for three days, so now, I’ll lock you up for three days too.”
“Three days later, I’ll have someone come pick you up again.”
“Ethan, are you crazy?!” Gwen’s eyes went wide. “There’s nothing here. How could I stay for three days? This was murder, this was a crime!”
“Crime?” Ethan chuckled. “Haven’t you already committed enough crimes against Adelia?”
After he finished speaking, he hung up the phone without hesitation.

Gwen called Ethan again and found she couldn’t get through.
She called other people too, but they were all out of service.
Her phone was totally cut off from signál.
“Let me out!” Gwen screamed in a shrill, miserable voice.
However, the sound was trapped inside this building, not a bit of it could get out.
