In less than a month, Selena had been tormented to the point of becoming drastically thin, completely losing her former radiance.
Her expression was gloomy, her eyes were empty and she often didn’t even notice someone approaching her.
She no longer talked about Sadie. Jacob deliberately brought Sadie to her several times, but she didn’t recognize her daughter.”
Sadie had also completely changed. She and Selena looked very similar, both appearing utterly lost and listless.}
She no longer clung to Jacob, wanting to make him her family.

She had been wrong before, thinking this man was the most wonderful father in the world.8

Sadie often stayed alone in her room, quietly looking out the window, sometimes for the entire day. She didn’t cry, make a fuss, or speak. No one knew what she was thinking
It seemed as though Jacob would temporarily leave her alone as long as she remained quiet.
Jacob sat in front of the surveillance monitor for another whole day, realizing that Selena’s condition was terrible.
The assistant had just taken the doctor in to examine Selena and prepare a detailed medical report.3
He handed the examination report to Jacob. “Mr. Gilmore, she is physically fine, but her mental state is unstable. The doctor says if this continues, her condition may deteriorate further. She could start hallucinating or even hurt someone without realizing it.”
Jacob glanced at the report and stood up. “It’s time. Let’s proceed with the next step.”
He entered the basement, looking down at Selena from a high vantage point.!
He stood at the doorway for a long time before Selena sensed his gaze, stiffly turned around and her focus finally returned to him. She looked up at his face and after a while, she finally registered who it was.}]
It was Jacob!
She hurriedly crawled over, clutching at his trouser leg. “Mr. Gilmore, I truly know I was wrong! Please, I beg you, let me go and let Sadie
go too.”
“It was all my fault before. I shouldn’t have coveted the position of Mrs. Gilmore! If you can forgive me, I’ll do anything you ask! Please, let me go, let my Sadie go!”
Selena was rarely this lucid, her voice filled with tears and genuine remorse.
However, Jacob knew that these were just fake tears. He had been deceived too many times before !!
Jacob chuckled softly “Anything at all?“2
*Selena nodded frantically like a bobblehead.
“Yes, Mr Gilmore, I have completely realized my mistakes. Please believe me! Give me one last chance! I will definitely make up for my wrongdoings
Jacob nodded, his heart utterly unmoved. “Alright, after you finish this last thing, I will let you and your daughter go.”
As soon as he finished speaking, several bodyguards entered the basement and dragged her into a car.
The car left the city and stopped before a dilapidated clinic in the suburbs.

She was pushed onto the clinic’s makeshift bed. Soon enough, she realized exactly what Jacob was up to. Her expression gradually became terrified
“No, don’t!”
“Mr. Gilmore, I really know I was wrong! Could you not do this to me? Please, I beg you, let me go!”
