ld wind hit me in the face and I instinctively tightened the scarf around
I pulled my suitcase behind me my neck
I took a deep breath, letting the crisp air of France fill my lungs.
The winter chill here was similar to New York’s but gentler
I followed the crowd out of the airport and soon saw a familiar figure in the crowd.
My brother, Jesse, was holding a bunch of tulips in his hand, which sharply contrasted with his noble temperament.
Two housekeepers trailed behind him,
Only my brother would remember that tulips were my favorite flower.
Jacob had given me all sorts of flowers, but never tulips. Even after I told him, they were my favorite. Simply because tulips were Selena’s most hated flower
A warmth bloomed in my heart and I quickened my pace. A smile spread across my brother’s face when he saw me. He hurried a few steps forward to meet me.
My brother enveloped me in a warm hug. The embrace lasted a long, long time.
He finally sighed, stroking the top of my head, “Josephine, it’s good to have you back.”
It wasn’t until the housemaid behind him reminded him, “Sir, it’s almost time”
He released me, eagerly insisted on taking my luggage and led me towards the parking lot Once inside the extended Bentley, my brother immediately handed me a contract.!!
“What is this?”
“My homecoming gift to you.“?
I opened the contract with a puzzled expression, my surprise growing with each page I turned.
knew that the family had been focusing on the wine business in France over the years. We already had our own vineyard and the brand was gaining real recognition. That was all thanks to my father and my brother.
I never imagined that my brother would give me one of the family’s largest vineyards free of charge.
I felt a bit uneasy “Jesse, I don’t know anything about business. Does Dad know about this gift?“%
My brother chuckled softly. “This is Dad’s intention. You’ll be responsible for your profits and losses from now on
I wanted to say something to refute, but I heard my brother say self–blamingly. “Josephine, just take it. What happened back then was on me If I hadn’t pushed you to be with Jacob so hard, you wouldn’t have suffered so much. Think of this as my way of making it up to you.” At the mention of Jacob, those painful memories surged back again.
I didn’t want my brother to worry, so I swallowed the hurt and kept it to myself.
“I’m sorry, Josephine. It’s all my fault. I eventually hurt Jasmine, too.”
I couldn’t hold it anymore when he said Jasmine’s name.!!
He wrapped his arms around me again. “If you want to cry, cry. I’m here. Your big brother’s always here.”
Just like that, the dam burst. All the pain I’d buried inside for so long finally spilled out./
When we got home, my parents were already waiting at the door for me.
When I stepped inside, my mother rushed over and hugged me tightly. “My baby’s finally home.
My father didn’t say much. He just pulled me into his wms and gently patted my head!
I was wrapped in my family’s love and care for the next few days X
My mother cooked all my favorite dishes herself. Meanwhile, my father kept a quiet eye on me, ensuring all my needs were met. Every single day, they surprised me with a new gift
One day, I was out touring the family’s wineyard when Rose video–called me.
“Things aren’t going exactly as we expected. Jacob doesn’t want a divorce.”
I frowned. “Is this another one of Selena’s tricks? Is she afraid I’ll take half his assets? Or is she worried I’ll make a public scene again and drag down the Gilmores’s reputation?”

I cut her off “I don’t want to hear another word about his so–called love story with Selena. If he doesn’t want to divorce, I’m sure you’ll find a way to handle it. After all, you are New York’s top divorce attomey.”
Rose burst out laughing. “Too easy. Let’s look forward to the court hearing in five days.”
