When I woke again, all I could see was blinding white and the sharp smell of disinfectant filled my nose.”
“Suzanne, you’re awake!“}
Maxwell, who was looking remorseful, saw me wake up and hurried to the bedside.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for you to get hurt.“}
I ignored his apology and reached for the phone on the bedside table with some effort.
The date on the screen made my heart drop.}
Today was supposed to be my wedding day with Simon. A bitter smile tugged at my lips.
He was probably already with his beloved, without a single thought of me.
“Suzanne, I’m sorry. We’ll have other baby.“}
His words hit me like a thunderclap. My mind went blank and processing his meaning took me a long time.
“Baby? What baby?“}
Maxwell’s expression grew more ashamed.}
“The doctor said you were about a month pregnant. It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t forced you that night, our baby wouldn’t have… ” He couldn’t finish the sentence. His eyes were red as he looked away, gently patting my back.

My trembling hand instinctively went to my lower abdomen.
A month ago, that was the night Simon came back. We couldn’t help ourselves and we didn’t use any protection.
My face went pale as a tear silently slid down my cheek.

Maxwell’s hand froze in mid–air. He suddenly stood up, gripping my wrist in disbelief.”

I turned my head away, closing my eyes. I didn’t want to look at him anymore. If I had just cooperated with Maxwell and stayed with him for these five days, he would have let me go on the wedding day.}
However, I never expected that my submission would cost Simon and me our child.
“Suzanne, you got together with my brother a month ago?“”

A mocking smile touched my lips. I was about to speak when a loud thud from the doorway interrupted me.”

“Suzanne, is what you just said true?”
My smile was genuine this time, but tears welled in my eyes as I smiled.
“Yes, Simon. Our baby is gone.“%
If he had come sooner, everything could have been different.!!
If he had taken me away the moment we met in college, we would be in a wedding hall right now, receiving blessings from everyone.
But there are no ‘ifs.“%
“Suzanne, I’m sorry I’m late.“%
Simon’s scalding tears fell onto my hand, one after another, as he repeated his apologies.

Hearing Maxwell’s sarcastic words, Simon glanced at me anxiously. Seeing no reaction from me, he sneered
