Maxwell froze for a second, then pushed me down onto the sofa.}

Maybe it’s because I’d spent too many years trailing behind him. I knew him too well.
When Maxwell was really drunk, he’d just pass out. Since when did he ever talk this much?

I only felt increasing pain in my body, as if something was churning inside.
