Chapter 9
The Lynch family and Camden felt as if all the surrounding sounds had vanished.
The entire world seemed eerily quiet and solemn.
In the car, they sped along the way.
The Lynch family members and Camden sat motionless in the vehicle, resembling soulless statues.
The accident site had been cordoned off by the police, and the salvage operation was in progress.
Since the victim’s body hadn’t been retrieved yet, its identity couldn’t be confirmed.
So when the Lynch family and Camden arrived, they couldn’t get close.
Due to the heavy rain the previous night, the salvage work was challenging.
Time passed, minute by minute.
The weather was poor, and at that moment, it began to pour heavily again.
This made the salvage work even more difficult.
Two hours went by, and the salvage efforts had yielded no results.
Just then, Shirley made a malicious speculation.
“Mom, Dad, Paul, Camden, is it possible that it wasn’t Brielle who sunk into the sea? Maybe she was just mad at us for making her go get the ring and is playing this prank?”
Hearing this, the Lynch family and Camden thought it made sense.
They believed Brielle was deliberately trying to scare them.
After all, in their perception, Brielle was the type to do such things.
With this thought in mind, their previously anxious hearts finally settled.
Assuming it was a prank, they returned to the Lynch’s villa.
They waited for news from the police.
And they were also trying to find any signs that Brielle was still alive.
Grace Lynch found the nanny, Linda Johnson.
“Where did Brielle live? Take me to see.”
“The storage room,” Linda replied.
“What?”
Not only Grace but everyone present was shocked.
Mathew was confused. “Why would Brielle live in the storage room?”
Linda lowered her eyes and said, “When Ms. Brielle came to the Lynch family, it was very sudden, and there was no room arranged. Madam, you suggested she stay in the storage room temporarily.”
This “temporary” situation had lasted for eleven years.
Hearing this, Grace couldn’t help but frown. “I intended to prepare a new room for her, but I forgot. She never brought it up. Am I not her mother? Would I mistreat her?”
Wearing a hand–crafted wedding dress with a limited–edition necklace around her neck, Shirley casually spoke without a care.
“The storage room in our Lynch family is still better than her living on the streets before. Brielle living in there shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
Paul felt that something was amiss when he heard these words, but he didn’t say anything.
He walked with a frown towards the storeroom at the end of the corridor.
As he pushed open the door, countless tiny dust particles filled the air.

Paul immediately took a step back.
He entered, covering his nose. The cluttered, discarded items almost filled the entire dark and cramped storage room.
Brielle’s bed was beside a row of shelves filled with things.
It was called a bed, but in fact, it was just a thin wooden board covered with some torn paper.
Next to the bed was a large water tank, on top of which were an old desk lamp, a diary, and a stack of papers.
This was all that Brielle had in the Lynch family over so many years.
Paul was so stunned that he couldn’t speak, and he even forgot to cover his nose.
He never expected that his own younger sister would live in such a shabby place.
This was the Lynch family, her home!
The storage room was so small that Paul didn’t need to observe it to know whether Brielle was there.
Paul walked towards the water tank, which might have served as Brielle’s “desk“.
“Mom, Dad!” Paul called out to his parents.
He picked up the diary and the stack of medical examination reports, arranged from oldest to newest.
“Brielle isn’t here, but she left these behind.”
Mathew was about to check when Shirley, standing outside the storage room, spoke up.
“Brielle left these and suddenly disappeared. Is it because she doesn’t want to see me marry Camden? But this is my only wish. Can’t she fulfill it for me?”
After that, her tears started to flow again.
Hearing these words, Mathew and Grace started comforting Shirley once more.
Camden also felt a tinge of anger.
“Hadn’t we agreed it was just a fake marriage?
“Why couldn’t Brielle understand?”
He took out his phone and sent two messages to Brielle on Line.
“Brielle, stop this nonsense and come out quickly!”
“Why are you being so disobedient? And now you’ve even learned to pretend to be dead to scare us?”
