Chapter 1
“Ms. Lynch, we’re perfecting your fake corpse based on the information you provided. Ten days later, your plan will be carried out smoothly.”
I burned the mail right after I finished reading as I did when I got any mail.
Five years ago, my foster sister, Shirley Lynch, who was a doctor, caused the death of a patient due to a mistake in her operation.
My birth parents and brother, in order to protect Shirley, made me take the blame.
They told me, “Shirley has a heart disease. She can’t go to jail. Can you go to jail for her? It’s just five years.”
I didn’t agree.
But they joined forces to fabricate evidence and sent me, who was also a doctor, to prison.
And my fiancé, Camden Hoover, whose family was the top among the four most powerful families in Fairport Island, sealed my imprisonment with his influence and power.
The day I was imprisoned was supposed to be our scheduled wedding day.
But he said, “Brielle, I owe Shirley a favor. Please endure this for me. It’s just five years.
“After you come out, I’ll definitely give you the grandest wedding.”
He didn’t know that I would “die” five years later.
They thought five years were nothing. But to me, every minute in prison was like torture. “Brielle Lynch, your five–year sentence has been served. Live a good life after getting out.” Under the prison guard’s polite instructions, I limped out of the prison.
I lifted my head. The dazzling sunlight made me feel the long–lost freedom.
But I didn’t feel any joy.
Not far away, a distinguished young man got out of a Rolls–Royce and walked towards me. It was my fiancé, Camden.
It had been five years since we last met. His appearance remained handsome and refined.
But I, on the other hand, had a face full of vicissitudes, looking as if I had aged a lot.
A gentle breeze blew, lifting my hair and revealing the four–centimeter scar on my forehead.
Camden stood in front of me, holding my skinny hands.
He said in a gentle tone, “Brielle, you’ve been through a lot these five years. But don’t worry. I’ll fulfill my promise and marry you.
“Ten days later, I’ll give you a grand wedding.”
However, I didn’t show any joy. I just stared at the withered self in his eyes.
Withdrawing my hands, I replied calmly and softly, “Up to you.”
Anyway, ten days later, I would die in front of all of them and then completely leave them.
