Chapter 14%
Third Person’s POV
As soon as she said it, Norris’s eyes widened in shock
“What did you just say?!“}
So it had all started with Gabrielle. She was the one who bribed the doctor to lie. She had known Clarissa was coming all along, and those vague, misleading things she said were intentional.
Norris’s hands clenched the arms of the chair. His chest heaved as tears welled up in his eyes.
He turned to look at Gabrielle, and his gaze was filled with pure hatred. But just a second later, he looked away, overcome with guilt.
Because when it came to Clarissa, both he and Gabrielle were to blame.}]
And now, all that guilt he’d been carrying for days boiled over. He needed someone to pay for it. He needed her to pay.
“Break her legs,” he instructed to his men.}
If Clarissa hadn’t been hurt so badly, she wouldn’t have lost control of her body that day. If it weren’t for Gabrielle, she wouldn’t have had to suffer like that.”
Now it was her turn to feel that pain.
The bodyguard didn’t hesitate. He raised a heavy rod and swung it down hard.]
A scream tore through the room.
“Ahh! Norris! I’m sorry. I know I was wrong! Please, I’m begging you!“}
Gabrielle was a complete mess. Her hair stuck to her face in tangled clumps, her features twisted in pain.‘ Drool streamed from the corners of her mouth as she collapsed to the floor, writhing.”
Just two hits were all it took for her to nearly black out. The pain in her knees was beyond words. She couldn’t even scream anymore. She could only open her mouth to gasp for air.
Her eyes rolled back, and she nearly passed out, but the scorching metal of the brand brought her right back.
She wasn’t even treated like human anymore. She felt like some tortured animal, crawling on the floor.”
She looked up at Norris, her eyes begging, as she dragged her body across the cold ground.
“Norris… don’t you love me anymore? That bowl… that bowl of porridge…“}
Every word was gasped between sobs, her voice weak, desperate, hoping to touch even a shred of his heart.”
But Norris’s face was frozen cold, like stone. He even moved his chair back, disgusted, like he was looking at filth.
“You gave me a bowl of porridge, and in return I helped you immigrate, funded your studies, even gave you a child. Was that not enough? But what did you give me in return? You killed my child and my love!“}]
His voice cracked at the word love, his eyes turning red, nose stinging.
Gabrielle could see the killing intent in his eyes now, and her body trembled.)
But he wasn’t done.”
In a flash, Norris lunged forward and grabbed her by the throat.”
Her face gradually turned crimson, and her eyes bulged. She clawed at his hands, trying to break free, but it was like trying to move a mountain.
He had lost it. Truly lost it,”
It wasn’t until the bodyguard spoke that he snapped back.”
“Boss, that’s enough.”
Only then did Norris let go.”
Gabrielle immediately gasped for air, eyes rolling back, but she was alive, barely.
She scrambled away from him like a wounded animal, dragging herself across the floor just to get further from him.”
Norris stood and stared at her pitiful form on the ground.
“Watch her. Don’t let her run. And don’t let her die,” he ordered his men.
For the next few days, every time he thought of Clarissa, he went to the basement to torture Gabrielle.
He barely left her side.
By then, she was completely drained. With no food and water, her vision blurred, and she could barely sit up.
Finally, she was starting to feel what she had made Clarissa endure. And for the first time, regret crept into her heart.]
Norris squatted in front of her, fully dressed in clean clothes, untouched by the filth around him. He took a few photos of her in her current state, pulled out a stack of printed pictures from her past, and held them up in front of her.”
“What do you think those rich heiresses you hate so much would say if they saw you like this? Or those wealthy men you clung to in Canada?”
Gabrielle stared at the glamorous version of herself in the photos. It felt like a completely different life.
But the more Norris spoke, the more terrified she became.”
Those women used to love gossiping about her. If they found out she’d fallen this far, if they saw her like this, death would almo
