Chapter 24
Sharon assumed he was upset that she had gone to his family
hout his permission. Seeing his grim expression, she grew irritated as
“Who are you pulling that face for?” she said, “I’m telling you, your mother has already accepted me. Whether you
do or not doesn’t matter.”

Steven scoffed, turned his head slightly to glance at her, and murmured, “I accept it.”
“If you try to scare me like that again, I won’t forgive you,” Sharon threatened.
Steven turned away, stepped on the gas, and said nothing more.
By the time the car stopped, Sharon still hadn’t processed what was happening. She looked at the private clinic in front of her and suddenly felt uneasy.
“Aren’t we going to the hospital? Why are we here?” she

She immediately screamed, “Steven, what are you doing?”

His grip tightened, nearly dragging Sharon toward the clinic. Sharon dug her nails deep into his arm, desperately trying to resist.
“Steven, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have gone to your mother behind your back,” she pleaded. “Please let me go. I’ll take care of it myself, I swear!”
Steven pulled her inside. His assistant was already waiting, his expression cold and unyielding. “Prepare for the procedure. Get rid of the child.”
Two men stepped forward from behind the assistant, grabbing Sharon without a word and dragging her toward the operating room.
“Steven, I’m sorry!” Sharon sobbed hysterically. “Please, let me go! I’ll do it myself–don’t do this!”
Even as she was taken farther away, her heart–wrenching cries still echoed through the hallway.
Steven stood in the hallway, smoking.
Before long, a doctor approached him and said, “Mr. Chapin, we conducted an examination and found that she has undergone multiple curettage procedures in the past. If she has another abortion this time, it will be difficult for her to conceive in the future.”
Steven was stunned. “How is that possible? She was a virgin before she had sex with me.”
The doctor replied, “With today’s medical advancements, hymen repair is not difficult. Our examination results are accurate.”
Steven felt as if he had been struck by lightning. The cigarette slipped from his fingers and fell to the ground. His eyes were filled with shock and
disbelief.
He had never expected that Sharon had deceived him. Everything he once believed to be innocence was nothing more than a carefully constructed
lie.
His hands clenched into fists, and a surge of anger erupted within him. Being played for a fool like this was a massive blow to his pride.
“Proceed with the abortion. Immediately!” Steven ordered.
“Understood.” The doctor turned and entered the operating room.
Steven raised his hand and slapped himself hard across the face.
He had always thought that Sharon resembled the Yvonne of his youth. But now he realized–she was nothing like Yvonne at all.
Yvonne had been so pure, her eyes clear and without a trace of deceit. Yet he had been foolish enough to mistake a manipulator like Sharon for her.
Steven cursed himself bitterly.
When Sharon woke up, the only person in the hospital room was Steven’s assistant.
The assistant stepped forward and said, “Ms. Evans, Mr. Chapin asked me to tell you–since you deceived him, all the promises he made to you are

“He will never see you again. He hopes you will stay away from him and Mrs. Chapin. Otherwise, he will make sure to settle the matter with you.”
Sharon cried out loudly, “I want to see him!”
“Ms. Evans, you should know when to stop,” the assistant sighed. “If you don’t understand restraint, then don’t expect him to show you any mercy.”
