Seeing that I didn’t react, she texted me:
“Mandy, if you come now, I’ll forgive you.
Otherwise, don’t blame me for not being your
sister anymore.”
I ignored it.
During her two weeks in the hospital, Tiffany
posted sad, emo messages every day.
She didn’t have many friends, so no one paid
attention.
Her last post was yesterday.
Just three words: “I’m out.”
>
But she didn’t come home when Mom and Dad
got back from their trip.
I later learned that she went to see Chad again.
This time, Mom and Dad didn’t pay for the car
repairs, and she refused to accept the lawyer’s
offer.
She didn’t intend to pay anyway.
She wanted to use the money as an excuse to
get close to Chad and become his maid.
Somehow, she managed to get herself hired.
But she was kicked out in less than a week.
She didn’t act like a maid; she acted like the
lady of the house.
On her first day, she alienated all the other
staff.
<
She wore flashy clothes, treated the house like
her own, and drank all the wine. Every time she
saw Chad, she was all over him.
She even tried to tell him what to eat.
At first, Chad didn’t recognize her. But when
she tried to sneak into his bed, the bodyguards
dragged her out.
She refused to leave, yelling and screaming.
That’s when Chad realized she was the crazy
woman who smashed his car.
Seeing that no one cared, she had to slink back
home.
When she got back, she threw a tantrum over
every little thing.
But no one indulged her anymore.
<
Mom and Dad’s indifference broke her.
She took it out on me: “You bitch! You told
them something, didn’t you? That’s why they’re
treating me like this!”
“You’re jealous of me! You don’t want me to be
happy! You don’t want me to find love! You’re a
terrible sister!”
I always thought I treated her well because I
was her older sister. If she liked something, I
never fought her for it. She had everything I
had, and even the things I didn’t.
But she hated me.
I laughed and sized her up with a sneer:
“Jealous of what? Your crazy confidence or
your donkey brain?”
Tiffany was decent–looking at best, not some
unforgettable beauty.
But people always look at themselves through a
filter.
Tiffany was a narcissist with an 800–meter-
thick filter. If a guy looked at her, she assumed
he was in love with her.
And that’s caused a lot of problems.
That hit a nerve.
