Chapter 3
He was pushing the door.
But it was already locked from the inside.
Chloe and her crew quickly dragged me to the back room.
Then Aria’s voice came from outside: “Of course someone’s in the dressing room. Didn’t you say you had to go see your elder? Let me walk you out.”
I was terrified he’d leave.
But Blake insisted: “Open the door! Whoever’s in there, open it now.”
Chloe and the others started throwing each other under the bus.
She shoved the guy forward: “If you don’t want to die, go stall them.”
The guy was shaking: “What’s this got to do with me? I didn’t even do anything!”
“She’s knocked out, clothes torn – you think you can talk your way out of this?”
The guy had no choice but to open the door for Blake.
Blake’s cold voice cut through the air just one door away: “Who are you, why did you lock the door, and what the hell were you just doing!”
The guy’s voice was trembling: “Mr. Winters, I’m so sorry. I came to fix the lights, and my wife and I got a little carried away.”
I could practically hear Blake’s jaw clenching.
–
“Who gave you permission to do that crap in here! And another thing – your wife’s real interesting, screaming my name during it.”
The guy stammered: “That’s because, my wife, she really admires you.”
The air outside was thick with tension.
Aria quickly tried to defuse it:
“Come on, the couple just couldn’t help themselves. Don’t get upset over something like this, Blake. We’ll just fire the guy if we have to.”
They had me pinned with hands over my mouth – I couldn’t make a peep.
Seeing Blake about to leave, I used every ounce of strength to break free from the women holding me down.
“Blake! Help-”
