met.
Miranda only looked away when she met Amanda’s gaze.
Standing beside her was Iser younger sister, Eudora, a girl with a sweet and innocent appearance. Her shy eyes kept darting toward Barry among the crowd
She turned to the old muster, looking excited. “Old Master, it’s all to my sister bringing Dr. Wang here every day to treat Beniamin. That’s why he recovered so quickly!”
There was no way she would acknowledge Amanda’s so–called “lucky marriage” as the reason for Benjamin’s awakening.
The credit, in her eyes, belonged to the Lowe family.
As Eudora’s gaze swept past Amanda, her eyes were filled with mockery.
To be honest, even Amanda didn’t buy into the whole Tucky marriage” theory either. She knew perfectly well that Benjamin had awakened because of her own advanced medical skills–she had started mixing his medicine the moment she laid eyes on him
But this woman dared to claim credit? Fine. Looking at the Schmidt family members, their faces sharp and hostile like wolves and ligers, Amanda calmly fanned the flames:
“The doctor Miss Lowe brought must be truly exceptional. I’m sure the Schmidt family will be deeply grateful for her contributions.” Her words fell perfectly in line with Miranda’s intentions–this was exactly the kind of favor she wanted the Schmidt family to owe her. What she didn’t realize was that Amanda had just painted a target on her back.
Amanda cast a brief glance at Barry and caught the dark, stormy look he shot in Miranda’s direction.
The old master looked at Eudora with a faintly cold smile. Shameless self–praise, he thought
Miranda, on the other hand, looked at Benjamin, her cheeks tinted with a soft blush. “It’s our Lowoe family’s honor to have helped Benjamin wake up!”
Benjamin’s gaze lightly swept over her. It was faint, but cold.
“Thank you, Miss Lowe,” he replied blandly,
The moment Mark heard this, he clenched his little fists. His small face was filled with anger. He couldn’t let this awful woman steal Amanda’s credit.
“Daddy, who are you thanking?” he demanded coldly.
Benjamin looked at his son, noting how comfortably he was nestled in that woman’s arms–it was an irritating sight. “It’s polite to thank someone who has helped you,” he said
“Hmph! Then was it polite when she told me to die?”
Mark’s words hit the room like a thunderclap, making Miranda freeze in shock
How could she have forgotten this little brat!
She had been brutal to him that day. If Benjamin found out, she could kiss her chances of marrying into the family goodbye.
The old master had always protected Mark so closely that she never had the chance to strike. It was just her luck that he had gone blind and was near death–she had been counting the days.
There was no way she’d agree to become someone’s stepmother. Her own son was the one who deserved to inherit the Schmidt family legacy.
“Mark, stop talking nonsense,” Henjamin chided. He knew his son’s temper–and he himself had never been fond of Miranda’s constant presence in the Schmidt household.
Amanda, listening to what the boy said, instantly realized that this “Miss Lowe” was indeed Miranda.
Just as that thought crossed her mind, she heard her son’s quiet, accusing voice

Chapter 22
In less than thirty minutes, Benjamin’s room was packed with people of all ages. Even Miranda had arrived.
Among them, Barry’s face was the darkest.
To him, Benjamin had been as good as dead.
Yet here he was–awake. Had something gone wrong with his medicine!
little aunt.
It never crossed Barry’s mind that his failure came from one unexpected factor: a new littl
The expressions on the Schmidt family members faces varied wildly–most of them had not hoped for Benjamin to ever wake up.
Amanda, still holding Mark, had been quietly squeezed into a corner. Among all these people, she had the lowest presence.
But every now and then, her gaze would drift to the man sitting among them. Even seated, he radiated noble elegance that no one could ignore.
The old master was weeping tears of joy. Looking at his very much alive son, he choked out, “Benjamin, I’m so glad you woke up. From now on, you must take good care of yourself. Mark can’t do without you, the Schmidt family can’t do without you… and neither can Amanda”
At the mention of her name, all eyes turned to Amanda.
In that moment, she felt a venomous stare pierce through her from the crowd.
She looked up–only to meet Miranda’s murderous gaze head–on.

“So, you believe her, and not me?”
He was only five, yet Benjamin had raised him to be so mature. Amanda’s heart ached–not just emotionally, but physically, deep in her
chest
Miranda looked at Mark with a pitiful expression, then shifted her gaze to Amanda–who, even standing quietly in the corner, radiated a unique, indescribable charm. Cradling the child in her arms, she looked heartbreakingly beautiful.
This woman had become her greatest threat.
“Mark, I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Did someone say something to you? Why would a child say such scary things like ‘die‘? That’s just terrible!”
“Scary?” Mark said with icy clarity. “Why don’t you tell my daddy what you said to me?
His frosty words were like a dagger to Miranda’s throat. She went rigid, her body going cold.
She knew it was time to leave. She turned around and gave Benjamin a soft, concerned look. Her face still carried the same wounded expression from moments earlier. “Benjamin, please rest well. I’ll come see you again tomorrow.”
Without waiting for a reply, she left with her sister in tow.”
Amanda watched Miranda’s retreating figure, a strange glint flashing in her eyes. Miranda still had her uses–Barry would definitely turn her into a pawn of his own.
“Everyone, you should go. Let Benjamin get some rest,” the old master finally said.
But before he left, he cast a thoughtful glance at Mark.
Just before Barry exited, he turned to look deeply at Amanda,
Their eyes met, and she saw a faint, meaningful smile in his gaze.
Amanda’s mind spun rapidly, calculating her next move.
As the crowd departed, the room once again fell into an awkward silence.
