Chapter 22
Benjamin was awake!
The man sat upright in bed, his flawlessly handsome face cold enough to make one shiver.
His pitch–black eyes, like dark crystals, were icy to the point of freezing over. His beautifully sculpted lips were tightly pressed together as he looked at her with indifference.
Now that Benjamin was awake, the room was filled with a chilling, oppressive air,
“Who are you? Why a
are you here?” His voice was hoarse, yet frigid.
Amanda froze for a moment, gazing deeply into his eyes. She saw nothing but apathy in them.
This man was not easy to get along with. Rumor had it he seemed gentle on the surface, but in reality, he was unapproachable.
Amanda gave a warm smile and greeted him, “Hello, my name is Amanda”
Benjamin frowned slightly and said nothing.
Little Mark sat right beside his father. From the look in his father’s eyes, he could tell that he didn’t particularly like Amanda
But during this time, she had been nothing but good to him.
He gently tugged at his father’s hand and said. “Daddy, you should thank her. She married you to bring you good luck–that’s why you woke up so quickly.”
It was also because she saved him that he recovered this fast..
Benjamin’s frown deepened at his son’s words. Was he supposed to believe such nonsense?
Amanda bent down to pick up the grapes that had fallen and left to rinse them again. Before she turned to go, she gave him a long, meaningful look
He had woken up sooner than she expected. It seemed the new medicine was working remarkably well.
However, his legs were still in a semi–disabled state. If he wanted to recover fully, it would take some time.
After washing the grapes, she returned with the plate in hand and sat down on the sofa, cradling her son as they ate together, Benjamin looked on with a flicker of surprise. Mark had never been close to anyone but him.
What had this woman done to make his son so attached to her?
The boy who had always clung to him now suddenly preferred someone else’s arms- stolen from him,
it gave him a strange feeling, like his son had been
“Are you hungry? I could make you some porridge if you’d like, Amanda asked gently, concerned by his pale complexion. Even that face of his–she had to admit, it was stunning And more importantly, even sitting down, he had an imposing presence. Waking up to find himself with a wife–though Benjamin didn’t know that part yet.
“No need,” he replied coldly. He was still weak, unable to move while lying in bed. Especially his legs–he couldn’t feel them at all.
Young Master, you’re awake came the butler’s surprised and elated voice.
He had come up after hearing voices–and was greeted by this miraculous scene!
The buder stood at the doorway, tears of joy in his eyes. He had never imagined that the young master, whom doctors had declared wouldn’t survive the month, would wake up in just half that time.
This was nothing short of a miracle
“Heavens have blessed our young master!” the butler exclaimed, clasping his hands in prayer. He had watched Benjamin grow up from child–seeing him alive again felt like a gift from the gods.

Chapter 22
In less than thirty minutes, Benjamin’s room was packed with people of all ages. Even Miranda had arrived.
Among them. Barry’s face was the darkest.
To him. Benjamin had been as good as dead.
Yet here he was–awake. Had something gone wrong with his medicine?
It never crossed Barry’s mind that his failure came from one unexpected factor: a new little aunt.
The expressions on the Schmidt family members‘ faces varied wildly–most of them had not hoped for Benjamin to ever wake up.
Amanda, still holding Mark, had been quietly squeezed into a corner. Among all these people, she had the lowest presence.
But every now and then, her gaze would drift to the man sitting among them. Even seated, he radiated noble elegance that no one could ignore.
The old master was weeping tears of joy. Looking at his very much alive son, he choked out, “Benjamin, I’m so glad you woke up. From now on, you must take good care of yourself. Mark can’t do without you, the Schmidt family can’t do without you.. and neither can Amanda.”
At the mention of her name, all eyes turned to Amanda.
In that moment, she felt a venomous stare pierce through her from the crowd.
She looked up only to meet Miranda’s murderous gaze head–on.
