Chapter 20
The Lowoe family was a prominent household in Cindale, but when compared to the Schmidt family, there was still a significant gap in
And Benjamin–he was the brightest star in all of Cindale, and also Miranda’s ideal future husband.
The Lowoe siblings numbered three. Below Miranda were her younger sister, Eudora, and younger brother, Davis,
When Miranda returned home, she stormed straight into her room without saying a word. Recalling Mark’s earlier words, she was so furious she swept all the bottles and jars off her vanity with a crash.
Then she thought of how Amanda had called him “husband“… and her rage boiled over. She ripped the curtains down from the windows, but that still didn’t soothe her fury.
She shredded a few old dresses into pieces, tossing them across the floor until her mood finally settled a little.
Grabbing her phone, she dialed a number with a sullen expression. “I need you to handle something for me at the Schmidt family. Amanda–I want to ruin her, completely destroy her reputation. Do this well, and I’ll make sure you’re well compensated”
She’s not easy to deal with. The whole Schmidt family’s been pulled into this mess. Barry won’t let her off the hook,” the voice on the other end hesitated.
“She’s just a shameless orphan. What are you afraid of? If anything happens, I’ll take care of it. Just do as I say!”
Miranda sneered as she looked out the window. Her man was about to wake up. He was her chosen one–her destined partner.
“Alright. Just to
tell me exactly what you want me to do.”
“Good. Wait for my instructions, and don’t act on your own. If there’s any movement from Amanda, I want to know immediately.”
Benjamin was her man. No one else was allowed to touch him!
“Got it, the voice replied cheerfully.
After leaving home, Amanda stopped by the company to take care of a few things, then swung by the supermarket to buy groceries–she wanted to cook something good for her boys
When she arrived at the house, she saw an older maid wasting in the courtyard.
As soon as Amanda walked through the gate, the woman stormed over, irritated. “Young Madam, you really kept me waiting. Don’t go thinking you’re truly the Schmidt family’s young madam. Don’t forget–you’re just a bride brought in to ward off bad luck.”
Amanda glanced at her. She looked like she’d been with the Schmidt family for many years.
Expression cool and distant, Amanda asked, “And
you are?”
The woman curled her lips into a smug smile. “I’m Nanny Emma, from the First Madar’s side. The Madam wants to see you in the back garden at 11 o’clock tonight. You’d better go. Right now, she has a lot of say in the Schmidt family’s affairs. Don’t forget–11 p.m.”
“If you dare not show up trust me I’ve got a hundred ways to make your life hell You’re just an orphan. Do you really think you can gain a foothold in the Schmidt family! Ha! You’ve got the fate of a widow!”
As she spoke, Nanny Emma leaned in close to humiliate her further, her twisted smile making Amanda’s eyes narrow coldly.
Amanda gave her a once–over and sneered. “Hmph. Hootlicking hag
“You–you–what did you say?” Nanny Emma was stunned. She’d been at the Schmidt family for decades–even the Old Master treated her politely. But this orphan girl? She dared call her a dog?
No one had ever insulted her like this.
Her fury flared instantly. “Amandal You dare speak to me like that? You’re about to be a widow, and you still think you can act arrogant? Who do you think you are?”

Chapter 20
Amanda’s alluring peach blossom eyes lit up with a cold, stunning smile. “So you’re cursing Benjamin to die, huh? And who the hell do you think you are? You’re making a few thousand bucks a month and still trying to throw your weight around in front of me–the official wife, with a red marriage certificate to prove it?”
Nanny Emma froze. Amanda had twisted her own words right back at her–she didn’t know how to respond. She stammered. “I didn’t mean that-
“You just said I’m going to be a widow. And now you’re denying it?” Amanda’s eyes turned inky black, her entire presence sharp as a blade drawn from a deep pool. That intensity made Nanny Emma instinctively fearful.
She’d seen this woman from a distance before and hadn’t thought much of her. But up close, her aura was terrifying.
Still, thinking of the plan set for tonight, Nanny Emma swallowed her anger. There would be plenty of chances to deal with this little tramp later.
“Amanda, don’t keep the Madam waiting,” she spat, then turned and stalked off.
