Chapter 17
“Cats and dogs?”
Miranda glared furiously at Mark.
Amanda, on the other hand, thought her son’s words were spot on. brazenly threw herself at him–eager to be the mistress.
Miranda knew full well that Benjamin was married, yet she still
Miranda’s expression darkened considerably. Her bright eyes flickered with barely suppressed rage, but she forced a gentle smile as she looked at Mark. “Mark, so you can speak?”
In other words–So you’re not mute after all?
Amanda suddenly recalled something she’d heard before: after a certain Miss Lowe visited Mark, he didn’t eat for three days.
Could this be that Miss Lowe
Her eyes turned cold as she stared at Miranda, her gaze filled with shadows.
Mark’s little face mirrored his mother’s coldness, “Bad woman. Get out!”
He was furious–absolutely livid. Known for being a little tyrant, his rare outburst even made Amanda uneasy.
Miranda looked at him with a face full of feigned concern. “Mark, why are you suddenly speaking so rudely? You used to be such a polite little boy, but now…” She glanced meaningfully at Amanda and asked, “Miss Li, what could’ve gotten Mark so worked up? I only brought doctors here to help Benjamin wake up sooner.
Her words were carefully calculated, subtly implying that Amanda was the problem.
She also cleverly framed her own actions as selfless and noble–all for Benjamin’s sake.
But Amanda wasn’t fooled. Her tone was calm as she responded, “Miss Lowe, I’d like to know that too–why did Mark get so upset upon seeing you? Not long ago, he suddenly stopped eating, and I was really puzzled. Then he suddenly started eating again. Since you seem to know Mark so well, why don’t you enlighten me?”
Miranda’s face turned pale.
She lowered her eyes–a nervous habit of hers. Of course she knew why Mark stopped eating.
That little bastard had always stood in the way of her marrying Benjamin. She had always wanted him gone.
t rid of the boy.
Six years ago, when Benjamin suddenly had a son, she’d been obsessed with finding a way to get
Miranda shot a glance at Amanda, then said softly, “I really don’t know why Mark wasn’t eating. Maybe he was worried that Benjamin wasn’t eating either.”
Mark’s linie face remained blank and cold. He said nothing, but his rigid body made it clear how much he loathed Miranda.
The butler, seeing that the boy was about to explode again, didn’t bother with niceties “Miss Lowe, it’s time for you to leave. The young master needs to be changed,”
Miranda forced a demure smile, “Uncle Lin, thank you for your hard work. I’ll come by again tomorrow.
As she turned to go, she shot a lingering look at Amanda before leading her doctors out.
But just as she reached the door, she saw a delivery from a luxury brand–dresses and jewelry, all haute couture.
Jealousy surged like a tidal wave
The butler spoke up. “Madam, Old Master sent these clothes for you. If there’s anything else you need, just let me know. He also said if the First Madam comes to make trouble again, he won’t go easy on her—so you don’t need to worry.”
“Thank you,” Amanda replied softly. She understood the old man’s gesture.
Then she looked down at her son, whose little face was tinged with disappointment. She gently comforted him, “Mark, I’m just going out for an hour. I’ll bring back something yummy, okay?”

Chapter 17
Mark’s small hands clenched slightly. He nodded without a word.
He couldn’t see anyway–and he didn’t want to go out. It had been a long time since he last left the house. Ever since he lost his sight, even his father rarely took him outside.
Amanda entrusted Mark to the butler’s care and left the Schmidt residence.
Old Mr. Schmidt had granted her full access, and that gave her a rare sense of comfort and trust toward him.
She called Fanny, then drove to her house–finally getting a chance to see her three precious little ones again.
