Several doctors rushed into my ward, each one amazed and calling it a miracle.
I didn’t move, except to blink.
Jackson noticed something was wrong and asked the doctor what was happening to me.
The doctor looked at me and explained, “The patient has just woken up but isn’t ready to face reality yet. She’s trying to block everything out. She’ll need proper psychological counseling.”
Then they ran some tests, found nothing wrong, and then left.
Jackson came over to me slowly and bent down, each movement filled with cautious care.
When he took my hand, he started crying with joy.
“Giselle, you’re finally awake. Do you know how much I missed you all this past year? Sometimes, it was almost too much to bear.”
As he spoke, he lowered his head and cried softly..
But I felt nothing but disgust. I couldn’t understand what he wanted and didn’t want to be touched.
So, I pulled my hand away with all my might and turned over sharply, not

wanting to look at him at all.
Seeing him only brought back all the painful memories.
It hurt, too much to endure.

Jackson stood there, unsure of what to do. He wiped tears and snot from
his face.
Choking back tears, he said, “Giselle… can you say something to me? Please?”
I didn’t want to pay him any attention.
But Jackson kept bothering me, his voice buzzing in my ears, and I felt really irritated.
I shouted loudly, “Get out!
“I don’t want to see you!”
He seemed like he wanted to say more, but when he noticed my red, tired eyes, he stayed silent.
He left the ward but kept glancing back every few steps. Instead of leaving, he lay down just outside the door and watched me through the glass.
I didn’t think much of it. My mind was focused on what to do next.
My reputation in this city was completely destroyed, so I couldn’t live here anymore.
I needed to divorce Jackson first and claim the assets that were rightfully
mine.
That evening, Jackson came in with dinner. He smiled quietly but didn’t

speak loudly.

“Giselle, let’s eat first. You just woke up and are still weak. You need to regain your strength.”
I slowly looked at him.
In only one year, Jackson appeared as if he had aged 10 years.
Wrinkles formed around his eyes, his skin was much darker, and streaks of white ran through his hair.
So ugly, he looked awful.
My disdainful look seemed to overwhelm him a little.
Then I spoke slowly, “Jackson, let’s get a divorce, and you must give me the assets that are rightfully mine.”
When Jackson heard the word “divorce,” he completely lost control. His legs gave out, and he sank to his knees.
He was so panicked that he couldn’t speak clearly.
“Giselle, I don’t want a divorce! I admit I was wrong before, and I deserve punishment.”
He slapped himself hard across the face.
“I promise to make it up to you in the future and won’t let you be treated unfairly again. You can hit me, scold me–even hit me again–but please don’t leave me. Without you, I’ll lose my mind.”
He kept hitting himself until both sides of his face were swollen.
My eyes showed no emotion as I calmly said, “Then go crazy.”
Chapter 7
He meant nothing to me now. Even if he died, I wouldn’t shed a tear. Jackson never expected me to say something like that.
