Chapter 6
Smack! Smack! He stepped forward and struck them twice, not caring whether they were men or women.
He growled through gritted teeth.
“Those are just rumors! All of it–just rumors! She’s not that kind of person. She’s a good person!”
As he said this, his voice shook a little.
He was afraid of what he might see, but still pushed through the crowd in a hurry.
When he saw me lying in a pool of blood, he seemed to lose all his strength–his legs gave out, and he collapsed to his knees.
He knelt down and crawled toward me, wanting to hold me, but didn’t know how to begin and was too afraid to try.
He yelled loudly, “Call an ambulance! Someone, call an ambulance!
“Giselle is very kind. She can’t just die like this!”
Everyone stared at him like he was crazy.
They lost interest and turned away.
Jackson quickly grabbed his phone and dialed for an ambulance.
The surgery went on all night.
Jackson stayed outside the operating room, unable to sleep.

He was ready for the worst. If Giselle couldn’t be saved, life wouldn’t be worth living for him.
He was willing to die alongside her.
At dawn, the doctor came out of the operating room, his face etched with
concern.
“Sir, the patient is in critical condition. Additionally, due to a
miscarriage, her uterus is damaged and needs to be removed. Please sign this consent form.”
Jackson hurriedly signed without hesitation and only pleaded with the doctor to save Giselle as quickly as possible.
Leaning against the wall, he suddenly came to his senses.
“Miscarriage?!
“So it was true… Giselle wasn’t lying when she said she was pregnant.
“We were about to become parents.”
Recalling Giselle’s desperate eyes, he couldn’t hold back his tears. He squatted on the ground, clutching his hands as he cried.
He whispered over and over, “I’m sorry.”
Not until the early morning did the doctor finally come out of surgery.
But the look on his face was grave, far from relieved.
Jackson felt his heart leap and asked in a shaky voice, “Doctor, how is my wife?”
The doctor exhaled heavily.

“Be prepared. Although we managed to save her, her mental state is extremely fragile. She’s lost the will to live and may end up in a vegetative state.”
Jackson stumbled back a few paces, yet a sliver of relief crossed his face.
At least she was still alive.
As long as she was alive, there was still hope.
He transferred Giselle to the city’s top private hospital and reserved an entire floor for her recovery.
Each time he saw her pale face, his heart ached unbearably.
Everything that happened was his fault, and Jackson nearly collapsed several times.
During this time, he received a video showing Rosalie’s newborn, but whenever he watched it, all he could think about was his child with Giselle.
So, he ignored Rosalie and simply asked his assistant to find a reliable maternity nurse for her.
He stayed by Giselle’s side every day, talking to her.
How he wished her hand would move, how he longed for her to want to live again.
He told Giselle that all the rumors had ceased, and no one would dare speak ill of her anymore. If anyone did, Jackson would personally confront them.

Chapter 6
As the second year began, everything started to revive, and one morning, woke up like a miracle.
I was lying motionless on the bed, my eyes wide open but not moving. When Jackson returned with breakfast and saw me, he froze, shocked.
He stood still for a few moments before finally snapping out of it. His breakfast slipped from his hands as he quickly ran away.
