Chapter 6
When Olivia opened her eyes again, the sharp sting of antiseptic in the air told her she’d been taken
to the hospital again.
The room was quiet. Only a nurse was there, scribbling notes from the monitors.
Noticing she was awake, the nurse said flatly, “Mr. Carrington and Mr. Sinclair asked me to check
on your condition.‘
Olivia gave a dull nod and forced herself to sit up. The nurse handed her a report.
The words “late–stage cancer” were printed in bold, glaring back at her like a cruel joke.
Dragging her aching body out of bed, Olivia stepped into the hallway, only to pause as she passed by
another patient room.
Inside, she heard a sweet, familiar voice.
“Mom, Dad, don’t worry about me. Ethan and Sebastian have been so kind to me,” Vivian cooed.
Then came a pretend little sigh of concern.
“Oh, right. I heard Olivia fell into the sea too. Aren’t you even going to ask how she’s doing?”
On the other end of the call, her parents hesitated only for a moment before answering with cold
indifference.
“She brought it on herself. We only care about you.”
Olivia froze outside the door, her heart clenched in a grip so tight it was hard to breathe.
These were the same parents who once adored her, who used to cradle her when she cried and celebrate every little win. Now, they didn’t even care if she was alive or dead.
She turned to leave, but just then, the door flew open.
Vivian stood in the doorway with a triumphant smile.
“You heard all that, didn’t you?”
Olivia looked at her calmly. “Yeah.”
“So… you’ve known all along that Mom, Dad, and I faked our deaths, haven’t you?” Vivian stepped

closer, her voice laced with accusation.
Olivia lifted her gaze. Her voice was hollow.
“And what if I did? You were the one who came up with the plan, weren’t you? Why are you doing
this to me?”
“Why?” Vivian let out a laugh which was sharp, twisted, and full of glee.
“Because
you were born the proud and precious princess of the Sinclair family, living in the clouds while I rotted away in some orphanage, getting kicked around like trash! Everyone adored you, and I had nothing!”
Her voice climbed higher, more manic with every word.
“I want to take everything you have–your parents, your brothers, your fiancé–I want you to know what it feels like to have nothing!”
But Olivia didn’t explode at the words. She didn’t cry or yell.
Because this time… she came prepared.
The necklace she wore around her neck was a hidden recorder.
Everything Vivian had just said, every last damning word, was now captured in full.
And Vivian wasn’t done gloating.
“Your parents and Sebastian are such idiots,” she sneered. “That cheap trap I set, and they still fell
for it.”
Her laugh was full of scorn. “And Ethan? He used to love you like crazy. Look at him now–he only has eyes for me. Olivia, you’ll never win against me!”
And then, as if struck by a sudden idea, Vivian took a step back, something wild flashing in her eyes.
“I just realized I still have one last move left. Olivia, get ready to find out what hell really feels like.”
Olivia’s heart clenched. Before she could react, Vivian turned sharply and hurled herself straight
out the hospital window.
“Thud!”
A heavy thud echoed from the ground below.

Olivia stood frozen, ears ringing, her mind blank.
Then came a scream from outside.
“Lillian!”
She rushed to the window, trembling, heart pounding.
Below, Ethan and Sebastian were sprinting across the lawn toward Vivian’s bloodied body.
In their hands were two delicate pastry bags and they’d clearly just picked up her favorite dessert.
Ethan scooped the bloodied Vivian into his arms, his voice shaking.
“Hold on. I’m getting you to emergency now!”
Sebastian followed closely behind, eyes red and panicked.
“Doctor! Somebody get a doctor!”
A stretcher came flying through the hospital entrance. Nurses and doctors surrounded Vivian and rushed her toward surgery.
As they wheeled her past Olivia, Vivian weakly cracked her eyes open and lifted a trembling finger.
“It… it was Miss Sinclair… She pushed me…”
That single sentence hit like a bucket of ice water. Olivia felt the blood drain from her body.
She saw both Ethan and Sebastian turning toward her in unison.
Their eyes were colder than death.
“Someone,” Sebastian said, voice eerily calm, “tie her up and take her to the hospital rooftop.”
He stepped closer, his tone laced with contempt.
“Since you had the nerve to push her, then you can find out what it feels like to fall too.”
Two bodyguards immediately stormed forward and grabbed Olivia’s wrists, their grip like iron.
If this had been the old her, she would’ve screamed, begged, fought to explain.
But now, she didn’t.
O…

with deadly enemies
She just looked at them, eyes empty.
“If I told you I didn’t do it, would you even believe me?”
Ethan let out a cold laugh.
“A liar with a record like yours? Why should we?”
Olivia smiled and the tears silently slid down her cheeks.
She realized she should’ve known better.
They were never going to believe her. Not then. Not now.
