Chapter 18
Catherine walked in just in time to see Lillian’s tearful expression and immediately pulled her into
a comforting hug.
“What happened, sweetheart? Did someone upset you?”
Victor and Sebastian quickly surrounded her, all asking if she was okay.
Olivia watched them, three people who had said they came to pick her up from the hospital, yet completely ignored her. A sharp bitterness welled up in her chest.
Maybe finally realizing how awkward things looked, Catherine hurried to introduce Lillian.
“This is Lillian. We adopted her a few years ago. She’s your… sister, sort of.”
“Olivia, you’re her big sister now. You should look after her.”
With one hand holding Lillian’s and the other reaching for Olivia’s, Catherine tried to connect the
two of them.
But Olivia now understood everything the moment she looked at the girl who looked just enough like her to be unsettling.
“So this is the big surprise?”
She yanked her hand away and glared at them.
“Do you not like me, Olivia?” Lillian asked softly, her voice filled with hurt.
At that, Sebastian’s face darkened and he immediately scolded. “Olivia! Where’s your manners? Lillian is part of our family now. How can you treat her like this?”
Olivia could hardly believe her ears.
Her brother, who used to cherish her more than anything, was now defending a stranger over her?
“I don’t want her as family. I was in a coma for five years to save you people, and now you replace me with a stand–in, someone to carry your memories of me? And you expect me to welcome her like nothing happened? How is that even fair?”
The room fell into an awkward, suffocating silence.
“If my presence upsets her, maybe I should leave… I’ve already been so happy to spend time with

Mom and the family…”
Her soft retreat immediately washed away any remaining guilt Catherine might have felt.
“Olivia! Whether you accept it or not, Lillian is your sister now.”
“This is our decision. You don’t get to question it.”
Olivia looked at them, her heart twisting with grief. Her entire body felt cold.
Ethan pulled her into his arms. “It’s okay, Olivia. I’m here for you.”
He was the only one she could count on now.
“Ethan, can you take me home? Please?” Her voice trembled.
She couldn’t bear to stay in that hospital room for even one more second and couldn’t stand the sight of any of them.
Ethan shot the Sinclair family a cold, sharp look. His words were blunt and scathing.
“Olivia is your real daughter. The one who’s been part of your lives for over twenty years. The one who nearly died for you. And this is how you treat her?”
“Well then, if the Sinclair family won’t treat her right–I will.”
He took her hand and walked away.
Once they were in the car, Olivia could no longer hold back her tears.
She couldn’t understand what had changed.
Her parents, and her brother used to love her. And now, just because of Lillian’s tears and a few soft–spoken words, they were all turning on her?
“I only have you now, Ethan.”
Watching her cry, Ethan finally understood just how unforgivably wrong he’d been in his past life.
He had joined the Sinclair family in turning against her. He had believed Lillian’s manipulative little lies and let Olivia suffer for it.
The pain of that realization hit him like a blade to the chest.
But thank God.

This time, he still had a chance. It wasn’t too late.
“Don’t cry, Olivia. I’ll love you forever. I’ll never leave you again.”
Ethan brought Olivia back to the cozy home they once shared.
The moment she stepped inside, she was taken aback.
Under soft golden lights, colorful balloons cast glowing shadows along the walls, filling the room with a dreamy, romantic atmosphere.
Her favorite music played in the background, like the soundtrack to their love story.
Balloons formed a pathway from the front door, leading her into a celebration of love.
In the center, dozens of candles had been arranged into a giant heart, their flames flickering gently like tiny beating hearts, each one glowing with Ethan’s affection.
In the heart’s center sat a bouquet of vibrant red roses, their petals dewy and glistening like morning tears.
Rose petals, red as fire, were scattered around the candles, reflecting the glow and creating a
romantic atmosphere that felt like a dream.
In every corner of the room were photos of them together, each one filled with joyful smiles, capturing countless precious memories.
Some were framed and hanging on the wall, others lay casually on the table, each one telling a part
of their story.
There were even her favorite plush toys, all neatly arranged like tiny witnesses to the love in the
room.
Olivia stepped into the room, utterly moved by the care and devotion Ethan had poured into this
surprise.
“Olivia, will you marry me?” Ethan dropped to one knee, eyes full of sincerity.
“Yes, I will.”
The proposal that never came to pass in their last life was finally fulfilled in this one.
