“Quick, find someone to bring Tessa here!“}
The old man’s glare was sharp and fierce.§
“If she refuses, tie her up and bring her by force!”
He was filled with bitter regret. Why had he allowed Peter to marry Yvonne?!
If only he had insisted his grandson marry Tessa into the family, maybe none of this would have happened.>>
Anger surged through the old man’s body, his blood pressure spiking violently. Suddenly, his body stiffened and with a heavy thud, he collapsed backward.
His assistant’s face drained of color as she shouted, “Mr. Arthur! Mr. Arthur, what’s wrong?!“}
Terrified, Peter forced himself up despite the pain.§
“Grandpa.”
“Grandpa, please!“}
Medical staff rushed in, frantically working to save him. Five agonizing minutes later, they delivered the heartbreaking news.
“Mr. Arthur has no vital signs. Please accept our deepest condolences.“}
Peter’s face went deathly pale.
“How could this happen?“}
“How could Grandfather die? He was just here talking to me moments ago!“}]
Grief overwhelmed him and he sank to his knees, tears streaming uncontrollably.
I stood silently nearby, tears quietly falling.
“Peter, now that Grandfather has suddenly passed and the company is the verge of collapse…”

A heavy sorrow settled inside me. I had fought so hard to marry into the Kingsley Family, dreaming of becoming a wealthy socialite. Who would have thought that just two days after the wedding, the family would be on the brink of ruin?}

Yvonne’s sobbing grated on Peter’s nerves. He sat motionless, but deep inside, memories of the past flooded him. The time the Kingsley Family nearly went bankrupt shortly after their marriage. Back then, Tessa had never once complained. She had taken his hand and said. gently but firmly, “Peter, it’s okay. As long as I’m here, everything will be fine.”
He had pushed her hand away roughly and mocked her then.
Now, with the doctor’s words ringing in his ears that he had late–stage stomach cancer and only days to live. He found himself haunted by Tessa’s kindness.
“What have I done all this time…”
After arranging Grandfather’s funeral, Peter hastily dialed Tessa’s number.
At last, panic gripped him and he began to believe in Tessa’s power to turn his fate around. As long as she returned before his illness worsened, perhaps everything could be saved.
On the eighth call, Tessa finally answered.
“What do you want?” Her tone was cold.
Peter’s throat tightened and his voice trembled with emotion.
“Tessa… Grandfather has passed away…“}
Tessa was not surprised. After all, the witch curse she had placed was meant to destroy the Kingsley
Unaware of this, Peter clung to the phone, choking back tears.}
“Tessa, I know I was wrong. I really was. I shouldn’t have refused your kindness…”
“Please come back. If you do, I won’t hold your relationship with Charles against you. We can start over.” Before he could finish, Tessa cut him off coldly.
“No need.”
“I find you disgusting.“}
Peter hadn’t expected such blunt rejection, but his desperate will to survive made him plead on., “Tessa, if you come back, I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up
to you.”
