Chapter 1
I was raised by wolves.
And at the underground auction where I was caged and shackled like an animal, it was Graham Whitmore who bought me.
He taught me how to read, how to speak properly, how to dress like a human. He told me I wasn’t a monster. That my past didn’t define me. For a while, I almost believed him.
When I told him I was pregnant, he trembled as he knelt and kissed my belly.
But when I gave birth and opened my eyes again, the first words I heard shattered everything: “The baby didn’t make it.
A rush of anguish hit me like a storm, and I passed out.
Half conscious, I heard voices echoing through the darkness.
“Mr. Whitmore, thanks to the timely transfusion of the hybrid child’s blood–the one part human, part have stabilized. should regain consciousness today.”

“Good. As long as Izzy wakes up… As for the baby… Skylar and I can always try again.‘
My hand curled into a fist. Tears slid silently down my cheeks.
He didn’t know.
He didn’t know that those who drink wolf blood don’t stay human anymore…
They change. Slowly. Irreversibly.
As that last whisper faded, I snapped awake.
My body was still weak, trembling from the trauma of childbirth, but I stumbled toward the neonatal unit.
And there he was.
My baby, lying still and cold.
Then–Graham’s voice.
Soft. Almost reverent.
“You’re finally awake… after all these years…”
He sounded on the verge of tears. A man possessed.
“Every time I had to be with that beast, I wanted to throw up. Only you… only you make me feel alive.”
The sound of fabric rustling–his voice dipping into something darker.
“But only a hybrid baby could save her. You see? I’m already thinking about you again…”
I drove my nails into the wooden doorframe, piercing clean through.
ww
I had always known about Isabelle. His precious “sister.” But I never imagined they weren’t siblings at all.

And I never thought that the man who had once shouted in the auction house that I wasn’t a monster–that same man had bought me just to harvest my child’s blood to save the woman he truly loved.
I cradled my child, pressing my fevered forehead to his cold one, as scalding tears streamed down my cheeks.
“Mr. Whitmore, what should we do with the dead infant?”
Silence.
Then, in a voice hoarse and utterly detached: “He was only good for that bit of blood… Now that Izzy’s stable, bury him somewhere

eaceful.”
Oh, and cut off his tail. Izzy likes furry things. It’ll make a nice little gift.”
ly mind went blank. My arms went numb. I nearly dropped my son.
efore the birth, I had once asked Graham–what if the baby had a tail? What then?
le had kissed my fingertips and said, “If it’s yours, I’ll love it no matter what.”
nd I believed him.
hat memory shattered as his voice came again, crisp and cold: “Also–bring Dr. Langley. Tell him I approve the study.”
Io.
lo, no, no.
shook my head wildly, staggering to my feet and lunging for the door.
ut Graham returned just in time. He caught my wrist in an iron grip and dragged me back toward the sterile room.
You just gave birth. You’re too weak to be running around.”
He held out a steaming bowl, voice soothing like a lullaby.
‘Here. This is a new formula. Still warm–drink it while it’s hot.”
wwwww.
stared at the bowl, trembling. Last time I accidentally took human cold medicine, I had writhed in agony for hours. He had panicked so badly, he built an entire research lab just to develop drugs for me.
But now… this medicine had a strange, bitter scent I didn’t recognize.
[ forced it down.
A knock came at the door.
I looked up–and froze.
The man in the white coat standing outside was none other than the researcher who once bid the highest price for me at the auction house. The one who wanted me as a lab experiment.
Dr. Marcus Langley.
And he was Isabelle’s brother.
