Chapter 7
My father immediately roared, “Take that two–faced, ungrateful traitor away! She’s the one who truly deserves to be punished!”
I stood up, eyes sharp as blades. “Your honor, I request running a memory extraction to Isabelle!”
The entire courtroom fell into chaos. Under the silver dome, the jury began whispering among themselves. On the surrounding screens, live comments flooded the space like a blizzard, too fast to even read.
The werewolf judge paused, his gaze cold and commanding as it swept over the room. Then he solemnly nodded. “Request granted.”
Isabelle thrashed, her scent spiking with raw, feral panic, but she was no trained werewolf enforcer. The executioner’s grip didn’t budge. Pinned under the memory extractor, she could only watch as silver threads coiled around her temples.
With a flash of light, the machine hummed to life.
As the screen lit up, her memories began to play.
A lawyer placed a contract in front of Isabelle, speaking in a calm tone. “Your biological parents both had large life insurance policies. You’re the sole beneficiary. The payout is worth several million dollars.”
“But haralice you’re a minor the funds must ho temnorarily managed by your new mardians Thou can only hold it hut not allow Chapter 6

“But because you’re a minor, the funds must be temporarily managed by your new guardians. They can only hold it, but not allow to use it. Once you come of age, it’ll all belong to you.”
The scene shifted abruptly. The door swung open to reveal my parents lingering at the threshold, their expressions unreadable. They’d clearly been eavesdropping for a while. But what flickered in their eyes wasn’t grief or concern. No, it was something far uglier: naked greed, cold calculation.
Then, in a blink, memory changed again.
Isabelle appeared in the doorway instead, her fingers white–knuckled around her backpack straps, lips caught nervously between her teeth as she hesitated on the threshold.
My father’s eyes gleamed as he shot my mother a look.
She understood immediately, dragged Isabelle inside, and said gently, “Don’t be afraid, sweetie. From now on, Auntie is your mommy.”
Isabelle leaned into her like a lost little pup. My mother’s body stiffened briefly, but then she reached out and hugged her, a twisted softness flickering across her face.
I watched all of this, numb inside.
Over the years, I had asked myself again and again–what did I do wrong to make my parents hate me so much?
I thought I wasn’t obedient enough, not considerate enough, not lovable enough.
But I never imagined it was all because of a payout, money soaked in death. A sum big enough to lift a werewolf family out of poverty into the middle class.
I let out a cold, bitter laugh.
It was absurd. Absolutely cruel.
My father suddenly dropped to his knees, his face pale, voice trembling. “Camilla, I know I was wrong… Please forgive your father…”
“Camilla, Mom’s begging you. Don’t hate me… We were blinded by money. We aren’t deserve to be human anymore…” my mother
sobbed.
They wept uncontrollably, their tears dripping onto the stone floor of the plaintiff’s bench, mixing with the lines of age on their faces like the masks they’d worn for years were finally torn off.
I stared at them blankly, but all I could hear was the deep voice of the judge echoing from the stand, heavy with the authority of the pack.
“This is the final jury vote. It cannot be changed or revoked. If the defendant loses, they will be executed immediately with the silver blade. If the plaintiff loses, they will be sentenced to life imprisonment in the Blood Moon Prison.”
The jury lights flickered on, one by one, shining like sacred silver under moonlight.
One hundred votes–all in my favor.
I was innocent.
The crowd erupted into cheers. A silver beam shot up into the dome above, and the pack’s emblem, the burning wolf’s head, lit the sky.
But I couldn’t force a smile.
Because kneeling before me now were the very people I’d once desperately craved love and approval from–my own flesh and blood. They begged for my forgiveness, not out of remorse, but because a word from me might lighten their sentence. Maybe even grant
them clamancy

Book Chapter1
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Aria. Happy birthday to you!” I burst into a fit of giggles and threw my arms around my Bestfriend Jacob.
“You’re so embarrasing.” I mumbled into his chest. My face was burning red. Jacob, being Jacob decided to sing me happy birthday in the middle of our school’s front quad.
“But you love me.” He laughed hugging me tighter against his body. I scoffed and pushed him away from me. “Don’t be so sure about that.” I huffed quickly walking to my locker. “Ariana you love me. Don’t kid yourself.” Jacob smirked leaning against the lockers as I grabbed my English textbook.
“Doesn’t mean I like you.” I grinned slamming my locker shut. He pouted at me and crossed his arms over his chest. “And here I was going to give you java chip ice cream. That I happen to have in my locker, but you don’t like me.” He sniffed wiping away an invisible tear. “I want Java!” I squealed slapping his chest. “Ouch! Chill out Shorty.” He laughed making me pout.
He walked a couple lockers down and opened his. Pulling out a small container of Starbucks delicious java chip ice cream. “I love you!” I screamed snatching the container of slowly melting ice cream and the plastic spoon from his hand. Ripping off the lid I took a big spoonful of ice cream and shoved it in my mouth. “Mmmm” I moaned throwing my head back.
“And she wonders why she doesn’t have a boyfriend.” Jacob muttered under his breath. But me being a wolf I heard everything clearly. “I don’t need a boyfriend when I have this smexy thing.” I smirked pointing at my ice cream before taking another spoonful.
“Geez Ariana, eating ice cream in the morning.” I stiffened and slowly turned around to face a laughing Sarah, accompanied by her goons. Sarah was the strongest she–wolf in our pack. She was also untouchable since she was Caleb–our soon to be Alpha’s- girlfriend.
“I don’t think you need the carbs honey. I mean look at your thighs! They’re like, huge!” She yelled pointing at my thighs. Everybody around her snickered or laughed. I quirked my eyebrow and looked down at my thighs. They looked okay to me.
“How about you get the hell out of here Sarah. Nobody wants you here.” Jacob growled glaring at her. She narrowed her eyes at him and stepped forward. “I can have you kicked out of the pack Jacob don’t forget that.” She hissed. “You might be boning the future Alpha. But don’t forget I’m his bestfriend and I’m his beta.” He smirked at a red faced Sarah. She growled again before turning on her heel and stomping away.
“You didn’t have to do that. I don’t mind the she–devil anymore.” I frowned staring up at my pissed off bestfriend. “Happy birthday.” He winked throwing his arms around my shoulder. I laughed and stuck another spoonful of ice cream in my mouth. “I’m in ice cream heaven.” I sighed smiling. Jacob laughed and tugged me along to English.
By the time Lunch started I was exhausted. Class after class I had to endure teachers wishing me a happy birthday and the class calling me a teachers pet. To make things worse most of the pack came to this school and now they knew I turned sixteen. The mating age.
“I feel bad for whoever her mate is.” A girl laughed passing me by. I frowned and kept walking until I reached the large willow tree that was far from the cafeteria. Meaning it was far from the pack. “You look upset.” I opened my left eye and saw Jacob frowning.
“Have you heard.” I sighed closing my eye again. He shook his head and flopped down next to me. “Everybody’s taking about my mate. How sorry they feel for him. How he’s going to end up with the weakling. How pathetic he’s going to teel.” My chin quivered and I bit my bottom lip to keep in the sob that was building up.
“Maybe I don’t have a mate. That would be a good thing. I don’t deserve a mate.” I whimpered. “Ariana! Don’t ever say that!” Jacob growled putting me into his chest. His arms wrapped around my waist. He pulled me into his lap and rubbed my hip. “Whoever ends up being your mate is going to be one hell of a lucky wolf.” He growled.
“I’m not going.” I growled once more. “Come on! Please! I’ll go with you.” Mariah, my sister, begged again throwing her puppy eyes at nie. “Riri don’t do that.” I groaned covering my eyes. “Are you going to make me go all by myself.” She sniffled. I groaned “fine I’ll go.” I frowned making her squeal and throw her arms around me.
Half an hour later I was dressed in a pair burgundy skinny jeans with a black tank that had a studded cross. I had a pair of black wedges and my hair was down in natural waves to the middle of my back. My eye make up was dark making my hazel–green eyes stand out. “Damn shorty you look hot.” I jumped and turned to face Jacob.
