After my Dad’s reaction, she suddenly lost the
last strand. When she came back, she was
wearing a white dress, looking lost and
desperate at the door.
My Mom was nice, and invited her in.
The first thing Ashley said was that we were finally a family.
She then pulled out a pregnancy test, and pointed at my brother.
“I just found out, it’s a boy. I know I didn’t tell you guys, but a few months ago, your brother got drunk and I helped him back. Then he didn’t let me leave- ” She bit her lip. “It’s a boy, the first heir to the family.”
My brother dropped his fork, and said, “No way, it can’t be!”
“What do you mean? Three months ago, you had that deal in another country, and I picked
you up, and got you hangover soup. Did you
grab me and not let me leave?”
The more Ashley talked, the darker Jake’s
face got, and eventually he couldn’t say anything.
I was a little nervous- did my brother really
get into something?
But then I realized, and I felt much better.
Ashley smirked, and put a hand on her
stomach, as if she was holding some
treasure.
“Dad, Mom, the baby is an heir, you can’t just
have it born without a name“.
My parents looked at each other, and were
able to act nonchalant.
My Mom was getting tired of Ashley’s
constant demands and threats.
My Dad tapped the table, saying, “Have the
baby first.
“If it is our family, we will let it have our
name, but if not, you will bear the
consequences“.
Ashley was mad, and said, “It’s because of
her isn’t it!”
“You’re going to leave your own grandson out?”
“I will give birth, but what will that do? I’ll get
rid of the baby so I can have a baby when I want.”
My Mom slammed the table and said “Do whatever you want! My kids are young, and they can have kids whenever they want. Your baby is not important!”
My Dad said “You can do whatever you want,
but you will not enter this house“.
“Are you crazy!”
Ashley couldn’t believe it, she was saying that my family would ditch her family.
“Jake! It’s your baby too!”
Ashley grabbed Jake. “That night, you said
you’d never leave. I’m not a woman anymore!”
Jake looked at me, and I gave him a look that said he was fine. Then he said “What are you talking about? After the soup, you left.”
Ashley suddenly smiled cruelly, looking into Jake’s eyes. “Are you sure?
“If you don’t acknowledge this baby, I’ll make sure everyone knows!”
Ashley raised her chin, feeling powerful.
My Dad just waved, telling the butler to get her out.
“You can do what you want, but you will never be family.”
