Chapter 76
Megan stood in front of her father, looking confused. She knew he was really mad at her but she didn’t know why exactly.
“Has he found out? Did Steve or did Veronica tell him that I knew about her stay in Steve’s house?” She thought, as she asked herself a series of questions, which she eventually had no
answer to.
“I’m sorry, dad, but I really don’t know what you’re talking about. What did I do? Did something happen at the palace?” She said to him, her voice filled with confusion.
“Don’t you dare lie to me, Megan!” He snapped at her and she
shuddered.
“I’m not lying to you, dad. I don’t know what is going on. Please, if you’ll just tell me what happened exactly.” She pressed, hoping to get a hint of what he was talking about.
“Silence!” He snapped at her again. “Did you actually think I wouldn’t find out? You actually thought I wouldn’t be able to find out, right?” He scoffed, and shook his head, throwing her into further confusion.
“You must have had so much fun, laughing and deceiving your
Chapter 76
father!” He said, his disappointment evident in his facial
expression.
“Dad! I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m confused
here.” She responded, looking confused indeed.
“You think I don’t know you, Megan? You think I don’t know
that you’re trying to feign ignorance right now?” He inquired,
thinking she was trying to act as if she didn’t know what was
going on so that he would be soft on her.
“Your tricks and gimmicks are not going to work on me this
time, because I’m totally disappointed and very angry with you
right now.” He said further, but she had a puzzled look on her
face and so he calmed down a bit.
“Who is Veronica?” He suddenly asked and immediately,
Megan’s demeanour changed. She became speechless. “Did you
or did you not connive with Steve to keep a stranger in this
pack?”
“I… I didn’t do…” She began to stutter, but before she could finish,
he cut her off.
“You didn’t do it? Is that what you want to say?” He furrowed
his brows and narrowed his eyes, “Are you going to lie to me
now, even after it is as clear as crystal that you actually did it?”
Chapter 76
“I’m sorry, dad. I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to do it. Please
forgive me.” She immediately cried out, pleading with him to
forgive her.
“Despite knowing what the rules of the pack states about
strangers, and knowing how respected I am in this pack, you still
went ahead to do this?” He asked further, shaking his head in
disbelief. “I thought I raised you better than this.”
“You know what? I have nothing else to say to you. You’re
GROUNDED! Till further notice!” He declared, raising his voice
as he spoke. “You are not allowed to leave your room except I
say otherwise.”
Shocked, Megan exclaimed, “What!? No dad, you can’t possibly
do that, dad.”
“What am I? Twelve?” She said, sounding sarcastic, raising her
eyebrow and folding her hands across her chest. “Come on, dad.
I’m over twenty years old. I can’t be grounded like a little kid.”
She added with a frown on her face.
“Oh really? Is that what you think? Do you think I’m joking
here? Do I look like I’m joking?” He inquired, angrily, “You know
what? Try me and then you’ll know if I can do that or not. Don’t
mess with me, Megan!” He added, his tone as cold as ice.
Noticing how cold her father’s tone was, Megan knew she was

in for a rollercoaster of troubles. She knew she was in a serious
mess.
“Please dad, don’t do this. Please, dad. I’m sorry.” She swiftly
began to beg him, her voice trembling with every word she
spoke.
“I know I messed up, and I’m sorry for every single thing I have
done, but please I can’t be grounded. I can’t be indoors all day,
everyday. My life would literally be over.” She stated, almost
screaming.
“Keep your mouth shut before I shut it for you right here and
right now!” He thundered, his voice echoing through the walls.
“I have been nothing but a good father to you ever since your
mum passed away, giving you all that you need even before you ask twice and all this while, I thought I could trust you but then
you go behind my back and do this? No, Megan. I never expected this. I held you in high esteem. I was boasting that my daughter
could never do such a thing.” He spoke and from his voice, Megan knew he was disappointed and pained, and this broke
her heart.
“You’re lucky I’m not in a terrible mood. One more reckless word from you, and you would hate yourself today. You’ll have doubts if I’m your father or not.” He spat, with a fierce and scary
look in his eyes, his fists clenched by his side.
Chapter 76
Megan’s lips immediately snapped shut, as her eyes began to
well up in tears. She knew that look her father gave her – the
clenched fists, his twisted face and his blazing eye colour. He
was really mad, and she knew he meant every word he said.
“Do you know how you made me look today? Do you by any
chance have the slightest idea of how humiliated I was today?”
He questioned, his fury evident in his tone.
“In the presence of the Alpha, the pack elders and the other
members of the council? I looked like a laughing stock, Megan! A
damn fool! A foolish father who doesn’t know his daughter, and
this is all because of you!” His voice, showing his disappointment
and hurt.
His words cut deep through Megan and her tears began to
stream down her face, but that didn’t change anything, her
father’s expression was unyielding.
“I think I have indulged you too much, I have given you too
much free–hand, but that ends today!” He suddenly said, his tone
serious and firm, and Megan was taken aback.
“What do you mean, dad? Please, I’m begging you. I will never do
such a thing again. Please, dad.” She pleaded wholeheartedly, as
she fell on her knees, but his mind was made up.
“I don’t want to see you leaving this house without my
Chapter 76
permission, no matter how urgent the situation is. If I don’t
permit you to go, you can NOT leave this house. No car
privileges; drop your car key in my room immediately after
now. No special treatment; from now on, you’ll be doing
everything by yourself. No maids will help you with anything.
No shopping spree! Maybe with all these, you’ll be able to think
about what you have done!” He
“Now leave my presence!” He yelled, but she still didn’t move,
hoping that he was going to change his mind if she remained on
her knees.
“NOW!” He growled, and she scrammed away with tears.
