Chapter 55
SUN CREST PACK
Beck, now the Alpha of the Sun Crest Pack, paced alone in his chambers as he eagerly awaited news. At some point, he got impatient and called out to one of the guards at the door, who
immediately rushed in to answer his Alpha.
He bowed before Beck as he said, “Alpha, you called me.”
“Yes, I did. Are they not back yet?” Beck asked him and the guard
looked at him, a little confused.
He suddenly remembered what Beck was talking about and answered, “No, Alpha. They are not back yet.”
“Is there no way to reach them so I can know how long it is going to take before they get back?” He asked the guard again.
“I don’t think that will be possible, sir.” The guard replied.
“Why not?” Alpha Beck asked him, with a puzzled look on his
face.
“We lost communication with them a while after they left the
Pack.” The guard revealed and Beck sighed sharply.

“So we really do not have a choice but to wait until they are back, right?” Beck questioned him further.
“Yes sir. That is the only thing we can do right now.” He
responded.
“Alright, you can leave.” Beck ordered him and after bowing in respect again, he left immediately.
Beck then took his seat, leaving backwards. He then closed his eyes as his mind began to wander off, thinking about a whole lot of things all at once. He was still so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t realize that he had been that way for almost an hour and
Ben had walked in.
“Are you okay?” Ben had asked as soon as he saw Beck’s posture
but got no response from him. Knowing him so well, he knew
that Beck surely had a lot on his mind.
He then moved closer to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
This made him jerk back to the present moment, snapping him
out of his thoughts immediately.
Seeing Ben, he said, “I didn’t know you were back. How long was
I out for?”
“I really don’t know, man. I walked in and you were completely
out of this world.” He replied and Alpha Beck sat upright on his

chair.
“So? Any updates on her yet?” He asked and immediately
noticed the change in Ben’s expression.
“What is it?” He asked him, “I know that face and it doesn’t look
good.” Beck said further and got up and started to pace again.
“Alpha, just sit down for a moment and listen to what I have to
say.” Beck urged him but it was like Ben’s words just kept getting him worked up.
“No, I don’t want to sit. Just say what you have to say. I’m all
ears.” He refused and kept pacing.
Ben tried to persuade him further, “But you really need to calm
down. It’s not good for-”
“Talk to me, Ben!” He snapped at Ben, cutting him off.
This left Ben with no choice but to answer him regardless of
how he was going to feel about it.
“We couldn’t find her.” He revealed, but Beck was not too fazed
by it and this surprised Ben.
“You’re not surprised?” Ben had to ask him.
“Not exactly. I didn’t expect you guys to find her as quickly as
Chapter 55
that.”
“As quickly? We’ve been searching for more than a full week now and we’ve searched literally everywhere but there is no sign of her.” Ben said, completely stunned.
“Maybe you’ve not searched well enough.” Beck said, refusing to
accept.
“We searched everywhere, Alpha. Everywhere.” Beck
reiterated.
“And I said you probably missed something.” He snapped at Ben
who began to get frustrated.
“I think you should just let it go. Let her go.” Ben said to him. “At
this point, Ireally think you should because today we found
something different.” He said and Beck immediately turned to
him.
“What did you find?” He asked hastily.
“We found her bag and her phone.” Ben replied.
“What?!” Beck exclaimed. “Was that all? Did you see anything
else? Anything that could point us to her whereabouts?” He
asked, his voice filled with worry.
Ben took a deep breath before speaking again, “Actually, we
Chapter 55
have reasons to believe that she has either been kidnapped or
killed by rogue wolves.”
“What the hell! How can you say such a thing, Ben?!” He shouted at him, unable to believe his ears.
“But that is the truth. You know how weak she is. I don’t think
she would have been able to survive up till now.” He continued.
“Also, we found something strange.” He said as calmly as possible, and Beck’s focus was on his face. He didn’t need to tell
him to speak before he started talking.
“Honestly, we found a lot of things that pointed to the fact that
she was probably kidnapped. We found a pit and her scent was
faint there, so we believe she was in the pit for a period of time.”
He explained and Beck’s eyes were focused on him as he spoke.
“But the one that left us seriously in shock was that we found a
cave. It was filled with really spooky stuff like dry bones and
skeletons.” He spoke further.
He then put his hand in his pocket and brought something out
of it, “Also, we found this.” He said, handing a bracelet stained
with blood, over to Beck, who collected it with shaky hands.
It was the bracelet he had given to Veronica years ago when he
professed his love for her after finding out she was his mate. He
Chapter 55
had told her not to ever take it off and so she wore it
everywhere she went. Even on the day she was sent out to the
pack, as she grabbed the Alpha’s feet, begging for his mercy, it
was still on her wrist.
“You gave her this bracelet, didn’t you? It has your signature all
over it and has her scent on it too.” Ben stated, sadly.
Beck held the bracelet and truly, it had Veronica’s scent. It
shattered his heart into pieces but at the same time, he deeply
wished that Ben was wrong.
“She can’t be dead.” He muttered and Ben sighed.
“I know that this is hard for you to take in but I think you just
have to-” Beck didn’t wait for Ben to finish talking before he
began to walk away with the bracelet in his hand.
Ben hurriedly followed closely behind him, asking, “Where are
you going?”
“I need some fresh air.” Beck replied as he walked away.
“Wait for me then. I’m going to come with you.” Ben said,
following him.
“No, I want to be alone.” He replied, his voice firm and clear,
making Ben back off and watch him leave.
Chapter 55
Beck had a robe with a hoodie and so it was easy for him to
disguise himself as someone else. He pulled the hoodie over his
head and kept walking away until he left the pack. No one knew
where he went.
After about three hours away from the pack, he came back and
headed straight for his parents‘ house. As soon as his mother
saw him, she welcomed him, beaming with smiles.
“Look who we have here, the dear Alpha of our pack.” She
announced jokingly and Beck forced a smile as he walked into
the house.
“What about dad?” He asked his mum as he took his seat.
“Busy somewhere, I guess. I can’t even say where he is exactly.”
His mum replied and he nodded.
“Hey bro. To what do we owe your presence, great Alpha of the
highly esteemed Sun Crest Pack?” Blue, his sister said and he
shot her a deadly stare, making her keep quiet, and their mum
chuckled.
But her silence was not for long as she began to talk again, “Why
are you here? What is going on? You look weird in a type of way
though. Are you okay?” Blue kept talking, without giving Beck a
breathing space.
Chapter 55
Getting frustrated with her endless talks, he yelled at her, “Can’t
you just be quiet! Why are you such a chatterbox today?” His
mum and sister were shocked at his reaction.
From his tone, it was evident that something was bothering but
he wasn’t talking about it. His mum immediately left what she
was doing and came to sit beside him.
“Son, are you okay? What is going on? Is it because of the Pack’s
duties? Is it overwhelming?” She kept asking, leaving no avenue
for him to answer.
“Don’t worry, it’ll get a little easier as time goes on.” She said,
trying to comfort him, thinking that he was getting worked up
because of pack responsibilities.
“No, mum. It’s not all of that.” He finally managed to speak
before his sister suddenly butted in.
“Wait, don’t tell me you’re still thinking about that useless girl.
That weak omega. No, I don’t want to believe this.” His sister
suddenly said, trying hard not to believe what her mind was
telling her.
“Watch your tongue, Blue!” He snapped at her, “Shut that mouth
of yours before I shut it up for you!” He angrily said to her again,
and his mum was instantly shocked.
Chapter 55
“What? So are you trying to say that your sister is right? So, you’re being this way because that ‘good for nothing‘ girl? Really? Are you kidding me right now?” She sprung to her feet.
“So all of this is because of that girl that is always attracting
problems wherever she finds herself? Really son? Because of that cursed girl?” She shouted at him, her eyes blazing with fury.
“Mom!” He exclaimed, shocked at his mother’s words.
“What?!” She snapped back at him, angrily.
“Did I say anything wrong? Do you want to tell me that you
don’t know that that girl is cursed? Why are you bent on
bringing a cursed girl to this family? Why?” She kept
questioning him, really furious at him, while his sister stood
there with her hands folded against her chest as she watched on.
“What is all this noise for? Who is bringing a cursed girl to the
family?” It was his father’s authoritative voice, speaking as he
approached them.
