There were unopened toiletries in the bathroom. After washing up, she went downstairs. The living room was empty, and there was a sumptuous breakfast on the dining table, steaming.
Cordell came out of the kitchen with two cups of freshly brewed milk in his hands. Seeing her standing at the dining table in a daze, he said gently, “Sit down and eat breakfast.”
She turned around and tugged at her dress. “I touched the clothes in your bedroom closet. Lend them to me for a day. I’ll send them over after I wash them.”
The light blue dress she was wearing was the latest design from the famous designer Juliet last year. There was a rhinestone belt around her waist that outlined her slender waist. The corners of Cordell’s lips moved slightly, as if there was a faint arc. “No need. It suits you quite well. If you like it, take it and wear it.”
The two of them sat down at the dining table and ate breakfast quietly. Elaine drank porridge with pickled vegetables. Seeing that she had not touched the milk, Cordell said, “Have some milk.”
