Jake clutched his chest, then looked puzzled.
“How did you know there was going to be drama today?”
I laughed.
“Doesn’t she cause drama wherever she goes? She was so spoiled, she used to bully me.
Chase isn’t the type to put up with her crap. What did you expect?”
Jake looked sympathetic.
“I didn’t know you had it so rough.”
I looked down at our hands, then slowly pulled
away.
Jake grimaced.

I said quickly, “Don’t worry, I wouldn’t want.

Jake’s face changed.

Right then, Britney called.
“Jake, was your wife’s hand soft? Huh? You’re

Jake’s face was a mix of shame and anger.
“How did you know?”

Britney hung up.

I laughed.

Jake felt even worse.

I hinted, “Who has Britney been talking to?”
