Chapter 13
Derrick’s POV
“It’s good to ser
ad to see you sir, good
- r. good morning” Laura said, smiling as she took the briefcase from my hand. I turned to her and winked.
“It seems like you missed me,” I said playfully, returning her smile. She nodded and walked ahead of me. “Everything is in place, just like you instructed.” She said, picking up her pace.
I in turn walked slowly towards the elevator. I checked my watch and it was barely 7am. If I ever had to be in the office, then it has to be early, bui never once had 1 beaten Laura who for some reason made me think that she had her bed right in the company.
She pressed the button and we stepped in together. I turned to her and smiled, satisfied by the thought that she was clearly enjoying her job. She quickly looked away, blushing slightly as the did.
1 ignored that and turned to face the blank space in front of me. It was easy to lead a woman on, especially when it was someone like me. Smart. charismatic and rich
“Good morning air” The greetings echoed as soon as I stepped into the hallway, I nodded my head and headed straight to my office.
Laura opened the door and I stepped inside and immediately took a deep breath. I could smell the familiar scent of leather and polished wood.
I watched as she walked towards the window and pulled back the curtains, revealing the thick glass behind my chair, from there I could see a majestic view of some part of the city.
I took my seat and she walked round the table and stood in front of me, her file still pressed against her breasts, something that now seemed to be pan of her.
“Tell me.” I said in e
in exhaustion.
“I’ve organized your schedule for you today.” She began. “You have a meeting with the Sun Fire Group at Am, and then a department head’s briefing shortly after that. Am to be precise. And then after lunch there is a conference call with the international team and then finally our usual strategy session with the marketing department at 4Pm.” She said finally, taking a deep breath
1 pushed against my chair, taking in all that she just said. “Move the meeting with Bryan to the first. I want to get that out of the way as soon as possible and then as so as the rest, let’s see how much energy I have left and we can reschedule if necessary.”
She nodded sharply, writing down on her tablet. “Anything else you want me to do, sir?” She asked slowly.
I leaned back against my chair, looking away from her. “Jau make sure everything is ready for my first meeting, it wouldn’t be formal. I’ll just speak to Bryan myself and that should do it, pass the information to him as well, he shouldn’t have a problem with that.”
“Of course, sir.” She said coolly and then turned to leave. She paused and then turned around to face me
“One last thing, sir. I just wanted to ask if you’re okay, you look a little bit ranted. She said softly.
I smiled and waved her off “It’s nothing.” I said briefly. She nodded and turned around, shutting the doar behind her
The image of Lauga’s face popped in my head and for a moment I wondered if she was flirting with me. “Nah.” I mustered
I turned my chair around to face the window. Keeping my eyes on the call buildings and taking in the muffled sounds from the busy streets. I took a deep breath, clicking my pen in a rhythmic tone.
“What the hell is happening?” I asked myself, smiling. I couldn’t stop thinking about her and it was beginning to get funny
A brief knock rattled me off from my thoughts and I turned around.
“Come “I attempted to say something, but the door burst open and Bryan walked in.
“Don’t you know how to fucking knock?” I asked harshly, my tone loud and with a hint of playfulness. He grinned and walked towards my table.
I stood up and then walked towards him, giving him a hug. He held me even more tightly.
“Thet that tone scares most of your employees” He said, returning the vile.
“You bet.” I replied as I let him go and walked back to my chair.
He sat down and stared at me without saying anything. I smiled and did the same and after a while, we both burst out laughing.
“How have you been, man?” He asked, this time more seriously.

I raised an rybrow, acting like I didn’t know what he was getting at. “What card, liryan?” Tanked, trying my best out the smile
He leaned back in his chair, a weird smile on his face. “Well let’s start with this. I haven’t see you in a while, and I know you’ve either been buried in work or spending time with Eclisses either you were with my lovely gord–daugher, which I about think it h, or you were somewhere cle”

He smiled and leaned closer, his smile widening Telline, it is a woman?”
