Chapter 21 The Culprit Needs to Own Her Mistake
At this point, the people around them fell silent.
Over the years, they had all prepared for the worst, for the day they might have to arrange a funeral.

Oscar had been fine at first, but ever since Eric had slipped into a vegetative state, his health had been Adeteriorating.
As the years went by, Oscar had come to accept the reality of the situation.
So even if Eric were to die from the car accident, Oscar would have seen it as a kind of release for him.
Why, then, would he collapse from the shock–so badly that now his life hung by a thread?
Alice took in everyone’s expressions, a cold laugh escaping her lips as she continued.
“In fact, Mr. Oscar must have already sensed something was wrong. He must have known the truth behind the accident, which is why he fell ill from the stress.”
Irene had never thought highly of Alice before.
But after seeing Alice save Oscar and realizing that it was Alice who had helped Eric wake up, Irene had no choice but to place all her hopes on Alice.
“Alice, can you save Oscar?” Ruby suddenly asked, her voice choked with emotion.
“Alice, I know life hasn’t been easy for you since you married into our family. You must resent us, and I don’t blame you. But I beg you to show your compassion as a healer. If you still think of us as your elders, please don’t hold it against us anymore, okay?”
Her words, which seemed like an explanation, were actually pushing Alice into a corner, making it look like she would be heartless if she refused.
Alice was so mad that she burst out in laughter.
“That’s not how the compassion of a healer works.”
Sandy, losing her patience, snapped, “What do you mean? Are you refusing to help my father?”
Alice turned to look at her. “I’ve already said it. Mr. Oscar has a heart condition. If we treat the root cause of the problem, everything will be solved.”
Irene, desperate, asked, “Tell me, what do I need to do?”
“It’s simple,” Alice said, her tone lightening.
“Have the person who caused this accident go to Mr. Oscar and sincerely apologize and own up to her mistake. If Mr. Oscar feels her sincerity, he will naturally wake up.”
She placed her hands on Eric’s wheelchair.
“I’ve said my piece. Whether you want to save Mr. Oscar or not, that’s up to you.”
With that, she turned and began to push Eric away.
Irene immediately exchanged glances with someone at the door.

When they reached the entrance, the servants blocked their way.
Irene spoke up.
“Alice, tell me, who caused the car accident?”

Sandy, panicked, turned to her grandmother. “Grandma, this was just an accident. How can you believe her nonsense?”
Irene snapped coldly.
“What do you know? Stay out of it.”
Sandy gritted her teeth in anger. Irene rarely ever spoke so harshly to her.
This was all Alice’s fault!
The car accident had been brutal; why hadn’t it killed both of them?
Ruby pulled her daughter aside and looked at Alice.
“When the car accident happened, there was a police report. We’ve seen it, and it was indeed an accident.”
She spoke worriedly.
“Alice, I know you’ve been wronged, but don’t worry. I’ll make sure to investigate this thoroughly. I’ll make sure the real culprit is brought to you soon. However …
Ruby’s tone shifted as she began to guilt–trip Alice.

“Oscar is also like a father to you. Do you really want to watch him die without doing anything?”
This was pure emotional blackmail.
But Alice wasn’t in the mood to argue with a group of people who lacked morals.
“I’ll say it again. The person who caused the accident needs to apologize to Mr. Oscar. Once Mr. Oscar feels her sincerity, his condition will improve. If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing more, I can do.”
Sandy gritted her teeth, furious. “You’re just trying to scare us!”
“If you don’t believe me, why not go and try it yourself?” Alice’s voice was calm, unaffected.
Sandy’s face darkened. “I’m not the one who caused the accident. Why should I go?”
Alice gave her a cold, almost deadly smile. “What, are you scared?”
“How could I be scared!” Sandy snapped, her ears red with anger.
Alice took her time, unfazed. “Then go ahead.”
Sandy was silent for a moment, realizing that if she didn’t go, it would only make her look guilty.
She glanced desperately at Ruby.
Ruby nearly cried out of frustration at her daughter’s foolishness.
Wasn’t this just asking Alice to humiliate her?

“Alice, this isn’t the time for a petty fight. If you send Sandra to do this, it will be a waste of time and … ”
“She hasn’t even tried yet. How can you say that?” Alice mocked. “Looks like you’re the one feeling guilty.”
Sandy had always been treated like royalty, never having to deal with this kind of humiliation. Her rage flared.
“I’m not guilty. I’ll go. I’m not afraid of you!”
With that, she turned and headed for Oscar’s bed.
As she walked, she was already planning how she would make Alice pay for this after the whole thing was over.
She stood in front of the bed, her voice flat and insincere.
“Dad, I’m here to see you. Please don’t worry us anymore. Wake up soon.”
Oscar lay there, his eyes tightly shut, his face pallid.
