Chapter 11 Her Wrath
“I demand you to stop!”
Charlie shouted so hard he nearly bit his tongue.
Alice chuckled, cold and sharp.
“Changed your mind?”
His face darkened, nearly black with fury.
“Fine. I’ll accept your
terms.”
Alice flipped on her phone’s camera.
“Go
“Go ahead. Speak now.”
Charlie’s chest heaved with anger. “You never said it’d be recorded!”
Alice’s lips tightened, clearly annoyed.
“Another no? Okay, I’m leaving.”
“Alice!”
His teeth clenched like iron.
She smirked and aimed the camera back at him.
“Start talking.”
Then she added, dripping with sarcasm, “Loosen up that scary glare–you’ll scare the reporters who will undoubtedly be watching this video.”
Charlie’s eyes bulged.
He was furious beyond reason.
Fighting down the urge to scream, he spoke through clenched teeth.
“When we discovered the heiress was switched at birth, we were shaken. Linda had grown up a Spencer. She’s practically family at this point.
“But Linda insisted on bringing the real heiress home, so we went with her to meet our true sister.
“Linda was already engaged to the Nolans–wedding date set–but since we’d just found the real heiress, she thought the Spencers had enough to handle and wanted to ease the burden.
“That’s why she did something reckless–she jumped out of the car.
“She figured it would delay her wedding to Mr. Eric and give the Spencers time to deal with the real heiress.
“But she miscalculated some details in her plan and passed out from the impact.”

Humiliation darkened his face.
“Mr. Eric’s condition worsened unexpectedly. The Nolans wouldn’t delay the wedding no matter what, so we

had no choice but to let the real heiress marry him.
“The truth is, the one betrothed to Mr. Eric was supposed to be the real heiress all along.”
He clenched his jaw, forcing out the bitter truth he hated to admit.

“The whole story about Linda getting pushed out of the car was a complete lie, and the real heiress did not plan the switch of brides for the marriage. That was just made up”
That was the end of it.
Alice nodded.
Her brother made a perfect testimony.
Suddenly, they were all victims, and the Spencer family’s reputation remained untarnished.
She turned off the camera and slipped her phone away.
Charlie couldn’t hold back any longer. He strode over and grabbed her sleeve. “Come on, let’s go to the hospital and save her!”
But Alice stood firm and caught his wrist tightly.
Charlie’s face went pale, a cold sweat breaking out across his forehead. “That hurts.”
Only then did Alice let go.
“If it’s help you want, Mr. Charlie, you’ve got to act like it.”
She hadn’t forgotten how cruel and ruthless he’d been when forcing her into that marriage.
She hadn’t forgotten how he’d smashed a glass just to cut her on purpose.
Charlie’s anger surged, his chest heaving as if it might burst. “What else do you want?”
Alice answered plainly, “When I got married, I was dirt poor. My family gave me no dowry at all.”
Charlie hadn’t expected her to come out and ask for money.
“Of course it’s money you want. No wonder you came from the boonies.”
Alice raised an eyebrow. “Of course. I’m not above money. You seem to think you are, so you won’t mind giving me some of that cash?”
Charlie was speechless.
He inhaled deeply, finally taming his temper.
“So what exactly do you want?”
Alice pointed at the mansion. “This.”
Charlie’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head. Shemight as welltellmetogiveherthecountry’sgold!
“No way!” he snapped.
Alice fired back, “So you’re saying you don’t pay doctors for their work?”

Charlie locked eyes with her, where a smug grin spread. It looks could kill, Alice would be torn to shreds by
now.
Tll give you money. But this house? No.”
Alice shattered his last ounce of pride without mercy. “Do you even have money?”
Computers were what the Spencer Group dealt with. Some hackers attacked their system, and it caused a big deal of trouble.
Then there was the problem with their computer parts, and it plunged the company deeper into their hole.
They could’ve survived, yes, if they still had the Nolans‘ gift money from the marriage.
However, Alice knew the Nolans had taken that back, and without that, the company was struggling to stay afloat.
She spoke again.
I’m pretty sure you don’t really want Linda to wake up, so don’t rush. Think it through.”
Charlie clenched his fists, pounding them hard against the doorframe.
“Fine. The mansion’s yours.”
A dull ache settled deep in Alice’s chest.
“Linda sure is worth a lot.”
Charlie jabbed a finger at her. “You better not pull any tricks. If you do, I’ll make you regret you were ever
born.”
Alice gave a cold smile. “Let’s go to the property office and transfer the deed now.”
Though reluctant, Charlie swallowed his pride for Linda’s sake.
They told Gary and Eric about the deal.
With Eric present, Gary knew they couldn’t risk revealing the truth about the switched bride anymore. They had to accept their loss.
After the property officially changed hands, Alice pushed Eric’s wheelchair toward the hospital.
The Spencers might be short on cash, but they spared no expense when it came to Linda.
She had the best room, stocked with the finest and most expensive medicine.
The other brothers, despite their apparently full and very busy schedules, took time out for a hospital visit when they got the news about Alice trying to cure Linda.
When they heard Alice had demanded a mansion as payment, their faces twisted with disgust and hatred.
But since she was there to save Linda, none dared speak up—they just seethed quietly at her ruthless cleverness.
Alice sat down by the bedside and asked the nurse to prepare some needles.

But this time, she went for the thickest needle she had.
Linda set her up. This was payback. She’d best be ready for it, whether she liked it or not.
Slowly, Alice lifted Linda’s hand and pressed the hefty needle deep into the tender pad of her fingertip.
“Ah!”
Linda snapped awake, her pale, delicate face twisting in sharp pain–clearly roused from sleep by the sting.
The doctors who had gathered to watch the procedure stood dumbfounded.
That’sit?
Once Linda stirred, Alice stepped back, resting both hands firmly on the wheelchair’s handles.
“Alright, that’s as far as we go with this drama. So, are we leaving yet?”
Eric raised his eyes.
Around the bed, the Spencer brothers formed a tight circle, blocking any clear view of Linda’s condition.
Alice smirked. “Oh, right. You guys grew up together, didn’t you? Now that she’s awake, you owe an honest and moving speech.”
Eric stayed quiet.
He then said, “We’re going back.”
“Rick.”
As they started to leave, Linda called out to Eric weakly. Her brothers were still standing around her like guardians.
Hearing her voice, the brothers shifted just enough to give her a clear sight of Eric.
When Linda saw Eric sitting in the wheelchair, her eyes immediately welled up with tears that spilled down her cheeks in torrents.
