Alice smiled.
“What was your graduate research about?”
Emma blushed a bit. “Biomedical science.”
Alice nodded. “Perfect Want to be my PhD student?”
Emma was speechless
“P–PhD?”
It wasn’t doubt about getting in–she was just surprised at Alice’s status.
If what Ms. Spencer says is true, she’s at least a postdoc.

At the hospital’s orthopedies ward, Marvin had one arm in a cast, hanging from his neck.

Linda brought over a glass of water and spotted Marvin standing in the hallway. She hurried up.
“Mr. Marvin, why are you out? The doctor said you should rest.

Linda didn’t get angry.
She spoke calmly. “Things change fast at the racetrack. I can’t excuse what happened.”
She sighed.
“But I admit, Alice was rash this time. I’ll make sure she apologizes to you

She was helping a girl whose face was hidden, so no one could see clearly.
They talked and laughed like close friends.
The man gave a thumbs–up. “Ms. Linda, you nailed it. You said Alice would apologize, and she actually came.”
Then he left
“She’s probably lost. Mr. Marvin, I’m bringing her to you!”
Marvin looked amused. “Good”
If Alice is here to apologize, I already have a thousand tortures planned for that bitch.
