Chapter 69 Horrible Discovery
Aelira’s POV
Roderic is dressed impeccably in a formal suit, his dyed black hair
meticulously combed back from his forehead. Observing him now, I must admit that, in comparison to the average middle–aged man in his forties or fifties, my father–in–law appears astonishingly youthful.
His years of fitness training have preserved his muscular build. He
definitely does not look like he is nearing fifty.
As Roderic scans the room, I instinctively tense up and gravitate closer to
Daelor, who places a protective hand on my lower back.
“He’s searching for someone,” I murmur.
“Cyrinne,” Daelor affirms, nodding toward the other side of the room where
Cyrinne has just concluded her photoshoot with some territory officials.
We observe as Roderic approaches Cyrinne, who turns to him with evident
surprise.
“Alpha Roderic, what brings you here?” Cyrinne’s voice carries to us despite
the crowd. Her reaction seems genuine; she looks completely caught off
guard.
“But of course, I came to show my support to my dear Cyrinne!” Roderic
beams, stepping closer to her. “You haven’t heard? I’ve invested in your
next healing practice.”
“What?” Cyrinne’s eyes widen with astonishment as she reaches out to

I watch them with a cold detachment from my partially concealed position.
The mere idea that my suspicions might hold some truth sends a wave of nausea through me. Their interaction feels excessively intimate for a
father–in–law and his son’s future mate.
“Have some water.” Daelor hands me a glass of warm water, noticing my
discomfort.
“Thank you.” I accept it quickly, appreciative of his thoughtfulness.
After drinking the water, I sense the nausea beginning to fade. However,
when I glance up to where Cyrinne and Roderic had been standing, they
have vanished.
“Where did they go?” I rise instinctively, scanning the crowd.
“Don’t worry.” Daelor’s hands gently cup my face as he turns my head in
one direction. “They went that way.”
I spot them heading towards a hallway leading away from the main
reception. I hastily attempt to follow, but Daelor seizes my wrist, stopping
- me.
“Hold on a second,” he says calmly.
“Wait for what?” I inquire, anxious about losing track of them.
Daelor’s lips curl into a slight smile, a blend of mischief and playfulness.
“Wait for dry wood to meet the raging fire.”
I gaze at him, grasping his intention. “Qualified to be a clever Alpha…”

Time drips by as we wait, ticking off each minute. My nerves intensify with
every moment, while Daelor remains relaxed at my side. He even vanishes
for a moment, returning with a plate filled with moonberry fruits.
“Try some,” he suggests, extending the plate towards me.
The sweet–tart berries soothe my jitters, yet I can’t help but keep stealing
glances toward the corridor where Cyrinne and Roderic have gone.
Once I have eaten half of the fruit, Daelor rises and states, “Let’s go watch
the show.”
I quickly set the fruit plate aside and follow him to the spot where Cyrinne
and Roderic have disappeared. The awards ceremony takes place in a
luxurious hotel, with numerous hallways branching out from the primary
reception area.
“What do I do? I can’t locate them,” I whisper, feeling a wave of frustration.
The main reason for attending today was to uncover the nature of the
connection between Cyrinne and Roderic, but now they elude me.
“Shh!” Daelor places a finger to his lips, signaling for silence. He then
gestures toward a dressing room not far off.
I promptly cover my mouth, trailing Daelor carefully to the dressing room,
my breath held tight. As we near, I catch the muffled sound of a moan,
unmistakably a she–wolf expressing pleasure.
My heart pounds as Daelor gently nudges the door of a fitting room directly across the hall. Instantly, the voices of a male and female werewolf
resonate clearly.

“Alpha Roderic, please, don’t do that. What if someone discovers us?” Cyrinne’s voice trembles with fear, clearly anxious about being caught.
“I can’t resist any longer, Cyrinne, just enjoy it.” Roderic’s tone is thick with longing.
Upon hearing his ragged breaths, I can’t help but cover my mouth, terrified of making any noise. This is really happening! Shock and disbelief swirl within me.
Cyrinne and Roderic? Have they lost their minds? Cyrinne is set to have her marking ceremony with Alarion at the month’s end! She’s even carrying
what is believed to be Alarion’s child. But here she is, involved with
Alarion’s father?!
“No!” Cyrinne still seems somewhat level–headed, attempting to fight against it.
As the sounds of clothing rustling fill the air, Roderic’s voice transforms into a low growl. “Cyrinne, you’re not wearing anything underneath. Are you expecting me?”
“Oh, I couldn’t possibly wear this kind of dress with silver–thread
embroidery. It wouldn’t look right with marks showing through. What are you doing?”
At that very moment, a pair of strong hands suddenly covers my ears. I instinctively glance up, locking eyes with Daelor’s deep silver–gray gaze. Embarrassment floods my cheeks.
Though Daelor’s hands block the scandalous words and sounds from
reaching me, I’m all too aware of what they must be engaged in! And here I

am, caught eavesdropping alongside Daelor during this private moment…
Just when I feel as if I might die from embarrassment, wishing desperately
for the floor to open up beneath me, the hands over my ears gradually loosen. I look up in surprise.
Daelor’s lips curl in amusement as he silently mouths to me–it’s done.
I blink in disbelief. It happens so quickly that I almost question if it even
takes a full minute.
“Oh, this is all your doing. How am I supposed to go out and meet other
wolves now?” Cyrinne laments unhappily from within the room.
“Who told you to act so flirtatiously today? Are you trying to tease me on
purpose?” Roderic snaps back.
“How could I ever do that?” Cyrinne’s voice has a playful lilt as she
seemingly strikes him. “Alpha Roderic, you are so cruel. You always do
this. Last time Alarion took me to the hospital, he nearly found out.
Thankfully, I lied to the doctor and claimed I had hit my stomach, so we
escaped being caught.”
At this, I instinctively glance at Daelor–he was correct. From the start, his
suspicions centered around Cyrinne’s pregnancy test results…
It dawns on me that the woman Roderic was with when I visited my
mother–in–law that day must have been Cyrinne! Suddenly, a wave of anger
surges within me!
How could these disgraceful wolves act like this in Esther’s bedroom! Do
they have no sense of shame?!

“Don’t worry, I know you’re nearly three months along; the pup is stable, so everything will be fine,” Roderic’s voice now sounds lazy, clearly lacking any energy after his release.
Three months…
I frown slightly–this indicates the pup likely isn’t Alarion’s. I initially thought
it belonged to her ex–mate, but now it seems it could very well belong to
Roderic!
This is absolutely absurd! She’s carrying her father–in–law’s child and
hopes to finalize the marking ceremony with his son! When Cyrinne’s pup
is born, will it refer to Alarion as its father or brother?!
“That’s not acceptable. Don’t let it happen again,” Cyrinne complains while
fixing her clothes, “I was relying on this baby to solidify my marking with
Alarion. He seems really fond of pups. When he found out I was expecting,
he immediately agreed to break his bond with Aelira and mark me.”
TOOM
“He and Aelira have been mated for three years without a pup. It must be
due to her infertility. He has to be thrilled to learn you’re pregnant!”
Roderic’s laughter carries a hint of malice, “Did you mate with Alarion that
night? Was it more enjoyable with him or with me? Huh?”
“Roderic!” Cyrinne instantly grows unhappy, “Stop it. Alarion has never
touched me!”
