Chapter 143 Sleep Together
Aclira’s POV
Daelor is obviously stunned by my sudden tears. He stands motionless, his usual Alpha confidence faltering as he takes in my breakdown.
“Don’t cry,” he begs, reaching out to brush away the tears running down my cheeks.
But the tears keep coming, soaking his fingers, their warmth making his steady hands tremble.
I say nothing, just weep in silence. My swallowing betrays that I’m fighting something far deeper, my wolf whimpering anxiously inside.
“Aelira, please, don’t cry,” Daelor implores, his commanding aura suddenly soft and fragile. “Blame me, hit me, yell at me- anything but this. Please, don’t cry like that.”
His Alpha scent shifts with true distress as he watches my tears fall. His silvery eyes reflect a panic I’ve never seen in him
before.
‘I can’t bear to see you hurting because of me,” he murmurs.
Eventually, my crying begins to ease. I swipe at my face with the back of my hand, though my eyes remain puffy and red from the long bout of tears.
My pregnant wolf feels utterly drained from all the emotional upheaval.
“Are you still upset with me?” Daelor asks cautiously, uncertainty in his voice.
I shake my head at first, then nod, leaving him looking bewildered, his eyes scanning my face anxiously.
*So, are you angry or not?” he asks softly..
I lift my gaze to him, my voice rough from crying. “Why did you keep this from me? I spent all this time anxious about who the father was, and you already knew!”
Daelor’s jaw tightens, shame flickering in his expression. 1 tried to tell you more than once, but I never found the right
chance.”
His Alpha composure wavers as uncertainty takes över.
“When you started looking into the pack servant incident, I truly decided I would confess everything,” he goes on. “But then you mentioned how much you hated that Alpha‘ at the assembly.”
A vivid recollection of that event suddenly comes back to me. I recall the way he gazed at me, the uncertainty threading through his tone. He truly meant to reveal the truth back then,
As the memory becomes clear, my wolf shifts uneasily inside me.
“Did you plan to tell me that day?” I ask in a low voice.
“I did,” he confesses. “But when I listened to how much you resented the person who was with you that night, my resolve disappeared.”
Daelor watches my face attentively. “Are you still upset with me now?”
Never before have I noticed such nerves on his face. The self–assured Alpha demeanor is gone, replaced by a raw openness.
Though his concealment still bothers me, the thought of all the times Daelor has helped me makes any harsh words die on my lips.
My expectant wolf recognizes the sincerity in his regret.
That old saying about being softened by accepting kindness and burdened by receiving help rings completely true. I have accepted so much from him that I can’t muster justified anger.

I let out a frustrated sigh, turning my face away, my hand instinctively resting on my belly where our child grows.
“I guess holding onto anger forever isn’t possible,” I murmur.
Daelor’s expression brightens as if a thaw has come. Relief washes over him, and the change in his scent betrays his happiness.
He draws me gently into his embrace, his broad palm soothing my hair and rubbing my back.
“Come now, don’t be upset,” he murmurs, voice gentle. “Getting angry at someone like me isn’t worth it. What if it affects your health, or harms the pup?”
His coaxing, childish tone, mixed with the safety his Alpha aura gives, leaves me both amused and slightly annoyed.
I quickly push him away. “That doesn’t mean you’re completely forgiven.”
Daelor instantly nods, though his eyes still shine with relief.
“I’ll accept any scolding or punishment,” he declares with feigned seriousness, “Whatever you decide, I’ll submit to it.” Watching him become more and more absurd, I hurry to bring the conversation to a close.
“Alright, let’s treat this as settled. No one is allowed to mention it again from now on.”
But a subtle smile curves Daelor’s lips, and his eyes fill with a dark, smoldering intensity.
“I can’t agree to that,” he states firmly.
I stare at him, puzzled, my wolf whimpering in confusion.
“What do you mean? I said I forgive you and won’t mention it again. Why can’t you accept that?”
Daelor gently tucks a stray strand of hair behind my ear, his soft touch sending a shiver down my spine.
“Since you’re not going to hold it against me for taking advantage of you,” his smile growing, “shouldn’t we talk about you taking advantage of me?”
“What are you talking about?” I ask, totally lost, my wolf restless again.
Daelor’s grin widens, a mix of devilish charm and noble elegance making his Alpha magnetism even more striking.
“It was my
nct experience,” he says, voice quiet.
Shock roots me in place, my heartbeat thundering as realization crashes over me.
“Your… first time? I manage, stumbling over the words.
“Since we shared a night together, you’ll have to take responsibility,” Daelor goes on, that smile devastating. “What do you say, junior schoolmate?”
My cheeks burn a furious red, my wolf almost howling from the embarrassment.
“… that’s not… you can’t just…” I stammer, completely unable to form a coherent reply.
“What’s the matter? Has a cat stolen your tongue?” he jokes lightly.
At last, I manage to speak, though my cheeks are still blazing with heat.
“In these circumstances, it’s generally the she–wolf who ends up at a disadvantage!” I reply, my tone defensive.
Daelor arches his brows, curiosity in his eyes. “Is that right?”
He nonchalantly takes out his phone and begins typing into the search box. Turning the screen toward me, I notice he’s looked up “Most sought–after Alpha King in the Northern Territory.”
Daelor’s name tops the list, with an overwhelming number of results appearing below.
I gape at the display, utterly stunned. Numerous articles, discussion threads, and even fan pages all revolve around him.
“So tell me,” Daelor says, feigning gravity, “who is actually on the losing side in this situation?”

He gestures at his phone. “I’ve never marked a single other she–wolf. I’ve never confessed to anyone except you. I haven’t pursued anyone before.”
His potent Alpha scent grows stronger, radiating absolute sincerity.
“So between us, who do you think is actually missing out here?”
Desperate for a way out, I try to steer the conversation elsewhere. “We should go back to my coworkers. They’ll be wondering where I am.”
But Daelor secures my wrist with a gentle yet unyielding grip.
*Are you just going to leave me now that you’ve gotten what you wanted?” His eyes gleam with mischievous warning.
Accepting that I can’t dodge this subject any longer, I give in to the conversation. My anxious, pregnant wolf whines quietly inside me.
“Alright,” I say with a sigh. “What exactly do you expect from me in terms of responsibility?”
Daelor’s face grows contemplative and earnest. “What is it that Alphas and she–wolves usually do to make things right. after being so close?”
I am left utterly speechless by his question. Of course, tradition calls for a marking ceremony and the creation of a true mate bond.
And now, with Daelor’s pup growing inside me, it seems more like a “necessary claiming” than anything else.
“You’re being totally unreasonable!” I exclaim,
“Oh, I’m the unreasonable one?” Daelor retorts, his brows lifted. “Weren’t you the one being unreasonable first?”
He counts off his arguments on his fingers. “Sleeping with me, then refusing to accept the consequences. Trying to leave me behind afterwards. How is that rational??
“That’s not what happened!” I object.
“Even if you don’t require me to answer for what happened that night,” Daelor goes on, his Alpha dominance clear even in his lighthearted stubbornness, “I expect you to take responsibility for me.”
He leans in, his smile both charming and irresistible. “After all, playing fair doesn’t get you a mate.”
He glances softly at my stomach, his voice gentling. “And we can’t forget about the pup.”
“Daelor!” I cry, thoroughly exasperated.
Yet he refuses to let up, his silver–gray eyes sparkling with playful intent.
“So, have you decided how you’ll take responsibility?”
