Chapter 126 Moonvalley High School (2)
“What is it you really want, Alarion? Enough with these games.”
“Think of this as me granting myself the chance to revisit somewhere meaningful,” Alarion remarks, his voice turning. unexpectedly serious.
“Once we’ve walked and talked, you’ll find your brother safe and unharmed.”
I hesitate, my instincts still alert to any hidden agenda he might have.
“You’re telling the truth about Jornic being all right?”
Alarion’s lips curl into a smile, and he holds up a single finger with solemnity.
“Would you like me to swear an oath? Would that put you at ease?”
I press my lips together, thinking it through.
Although I have no wish to spend time alone with Alarion, if agreeing to this stroll ensures Jornic’s safety, I have little choice.
Besides, we’re on a school campus–surely Alarion wouldn’t risk doing anything rash in such a public setting.
After weighing my options, I finally give a reluctant nod.
“All right. Let’s get this over with. Don’t waste my time.”
Moonvalley High School has transformed a lot since we graduated
The athletic field now boasts brand new equipment and modern facilities. Even the classroom building has seen major upgrades.
Yet, traces of the past remain for those who know where to search.
Back in those days, I was swept up in my first experience of real love. The simple fact of sharing a uniform and sitting nearby was enough for me to entrust my gullible heart.
But Alarion hadn’t taken any of it seriously then.
There were countless girls who admired him in secret. His innate Alpha aura drew attention even before the awakening of our wolves.
Never did I imagine that fate would one day bind me to Alarion as his destined mate. Back then, the thought of becoming his recognized Luna seemed utterly out of reach,
“The basketball court looks completely different now,” Alarion notes as we stroll.
“I remember it used to be open to the sky, with no roof at all.”
He grabs a basketball from a rack nearby and starts dribbling smoothly across the polished floor.
Effortlessly, he leaps and sends the ball sailing toward the hoop.
A sharp, satisfying ‘swish‘ rings out as the basketball arcs gracefully through the air, landing flawlessly in the net.
I have no interest in watching him flaunt those basketball talents he’s clearly never lost.
Ideliberately turn away, facing the other direction, hoping to detach myself from the feelings his game stirs up.
In those days, both Alarion and Daelor were standouts on our school’s basketball team.
They had played together in countless matches, earning a collection of trophies and accolades for our school.
Nearly every time, I sat in the stands, cheering them on, my younger wolf self instinctively responding to Alarion’s commanding presence on the court.
Thinking back on those days full of energy and fervor, a wave of bittersweet nostalgia washes over me.

Suddenly, Alarion’s voice cuts through my reverie. “Aelira, do you recall?” he asks.
“Remember that crucial match against Redbridge Academy? Somehow, you managed to bring a massive drum with you.”
He stops his dribbling for a moment, his gaze growing distant as he remembers.
“You pounded that drum with such enthusiasm. Its booming rhythm was so powerful, it unsettled our rivals and helped us turn the whole match around.”
That embarrassing episode comes rushing back to me in vivid detail,
It remains one of the many cringeworthy things I did in the heat of my passionate youth.
As he brings up my wild teenage spirit, I can feel my cheeks burning with embarrassment.
Alarion continues, his tone softening. “Back then, I thought to myself–this young she–wolf has such a wild, fiery heart. And the way she smiled while cheering was so radiant.”
He faces me, his amber eyes glowing with a warmth I haven’t seen in ages.
“Even now, when I think back on that day,” he says quietly, “I wonder if that was the exact moment I first began to love Jyou.”

Aelira’s POV
“Alarion…” I can’t help but frown, my wolf inside me whimpering at the desperate scent radiating from him.
The raw intensity in his amber eyes is unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed before, tightening something deep in my chest.
“Please, let me finish first,” Alarion interrupts, urgency and vulnerability cracking his voice.
His usual aura of Alpha confidence has vanished, replaced by a side of him I barely recognize.
“Aelira, lately I’ve been thinking about everything we’ve gone through together–all the moments, the conversations, the mistakes.”
He steps closer, his hands at his sides trembling ever so slightly.
“I’m the one who pushed you farther and farther away. No one else is to blame for how things turned out.”
I remain rooted in place, staring at the once–mighty Thunder Pack Alpha now brought so low.
“I realize I have no right to ask you this after all that’s happened,” Alarion goes on, his voice nearly breaking.
“But I’m begging you, Aelira. Let me try one more time. Just once more.
Desperation trembles in every word and every breath he takes.
“I swear I’ll give it everything I have. I’ll become the mate you always deserved from the start.”
The shift from his typically self–assured Alpha bearing to this exposed, pleading state touches something profound within
- me.
No matter what has transpired between us, witnessing him in this way awakens feelings I believed were long buried.
*I realize you probably don’t want to listen to this, and I’ll understand if you say no,” he blurts out, clearly picking up on my inner conflict.
“But would you at least give it some thought? Imagine what might be possible if we gave ourselves another chance?”
Worried that I’ll reject him outright, he gestures towards the recently updated sports field,
“How about we walk for a while while you decide? So much has changed here, hasn’t it?”
Almost unconsciously, I nod, though my thoughts are still in chaos.
We start strolling through the once–familiar but now different grounds of Moonvalley High School.
Each step seems to bring back echoes of the memories woven into this place.
“You know,” Alarion starts, flashing a mischievous grin that painfully recalls the days of our youth, “there’s something I never asked back then, but I’d really like to know now.”
He gives me a sidelong look, his face suddenly softer than I expect.
“What made you like me? Why did I catch your attention in the beginning?”
The question takes me by surprise. After all we’ve endured, he wants to revisit where it all began.
I pause, considering, and decide he deserves nothing less than the truth.
“Do you recall the time I ripped my school uniform?” I murmur.
Alarion’s forchead creases as he tries to remember.
it was our second year. I fell down the staircase near the library,” I explain.
The embarrassing incident returns to me with startling clarity.
“My skirt tore apart completely, and I sat there sobbing, unable to afford a new one.”
