Chapter 124 Belong to Me (2)
He picks up after just two rings, as if he’s been expecting me.
I can’t hold my anger back anymore.
“Alarion, what is it you really want?”

Aelira’s POV
“What’s going on with you?” Alarion’s voice rings with mocking amusement through my phone. “Who managed to ruin your mood so early in the day?”
I curl my lip in disdain, feeling my wolf’s irritation prickling beneath my skin.
“Cut the act, Alarion. Did you take my brother?”
He laughs, and the sound twists my stomach in revulsion.
“How can you accuse me of ‘taking‘ in time to rescue him.”

That arrogant inflection I’ve come to despise laces every word he says.
“If you’re doubtful, you can confirm it with Jornic yourself.”
You-“I snap, but before I can finish, my brother’s voice suddenly interrupts.
“Aelira, it’s me. I’m here.”
Hearing Jornic’s voice so unexpectedly leaves me momentarily speechless.
“Jornic? Are you alright? Where are you? Alarion hasn’t given you any trouble, has he?”
My questions spill out in a flurry, my protective side overwhelming everything else.
“I’m okay,” he hesitates, and I detect the uncertainty in his reply.
“It was Alarion who got me away from those wolves.”
Disbelief washes over me, and it feels like a deep betrayal.
“Jornic, you…” I try to respond, but before I can process my shock, Alarion has reclaimed the phone.
“See? Didn’t I tell you? His triumphant tone is impossible to miss.
I grit my teeth, convinced Alarion must have forced Jomic into saying whatever he wanted. My brother must be under his control.
“What do you really want from me? I shoot back, unable to hide my aggravation.
“Nothing major,” Alarion answers, his tone deceptively relaxed. “I’d just like you to come with me somewhere.”
Though he speaks lightly, the dominance of his Alpha command seeps through his voice.
My mouth tightens. “Where do you want to meet?”
“At the entrance of Moonvalley High School. I’ll be waiting.”
Moonvalley High School? I’m left frowning, unable to fathom why Alarion would choose our old school as the meeting point.
The place seems both oddly chosen and calculated at the same time.
But with Jornic’s well–being at risk, I know I can’t afford to take any chances.
“Alright,” I reply reluctantly. “I’ll come.”
Alarion’s tone shifts instantly, a gentle warmth I haven’t heard from him in years slipping in.
I’ll see you soon, Aelira.”
As soon as the call ends, Aunt Betty hurries over, anxiety written all over her face.
“How is everything? Is Jornic alright? What did Alarion say?”

Not wanting her to completely lose her composure, I force myself to sound calm.
“Don’t worry. Jomic’s safe. Alarion picked him up from the hospital. I’ll go and bring him home soon.”
Aunt Betty’s worry lingers, her eyebrows knitted together.
“Are you certain he’s actually okay? This whole thing feels off.”
“Really, he’s fine,” I say, even as doubt gnaws at me inside.
She presses her lips together, likely having caught snatches of my earlier conversation.
“Aelira, make sure you speak to Alarion properly when you see him, she advises sincerely. “You two were mates once. There’s no problem that can’t be settled between people who once shared such a bond.”
Her tone shifts into that recognizable, instructive mode.
“Alarion has already confessed to where he went wrong. You could at least allow him a final opportunity to set things. right.”
“Aunt Betty. I cut her off directly, stopping her well–intentioned but off–base suggestions.
I’ll manage this matter on my own.”
“You’re always so headstrong, my aunt mutters, turning away from me.
“How do she–wolves who have broken their mate bonds these days hope to build decent lives alone? How does anyone expect to last in pack territory without an Alpha’s
www protection?”
Listening to her old–fashioned opinions makes my wolf want to howl with irritation.
I wash up in haste, throw on some practical clothes, and get ready to head out.
But the moment I swing open my apartment door at Myrthale Residences, I notice the door across the hall opening at the exact same time.
“Awake so early?” Daelor’s familiar voice makes me freeze in place.
He lets out a soft laugh, his gaze warm as our eyes meet. The powerful scent of his Alpha status immediately surrounds me, bringing a sense of reassurance.
“Are you that eager to join me at that place?” he teases.
I’m caught off guard for a second, then the heavy realization hits: I had made Daelor a promise last night–to accompany him somewhere as thanks for helping me locate the pack servant.
“Daelor, I really am sorry,” I say, guilt pressing on me. “Something urgent has come up. I probably won’t be able to go with you today.”
Daelor’s cheerful look dims a bit, concern replacing it on his face.
“What’s so urgent?” he asks, his voice gentle but intent on understanding.
I press my lips together, aware that if I revealed Alarion’s manipulations, Daelor would go straight after him.
Right now, my only wish is to settle everything quietly–without dragging more people in or creating new complications.
Daelor notices my silence, but chooses not to push for an answer.
Instead, he lifts his hand and softly tousles my hair, surprising me with his gentle touch.
That’s all right. We’ll go whenever you’re able.”
quickly nod, feeling a rush of relief at how understanding he is.
“Thank you, Daelor. I’m grateful for your patience. I’ll head out now.”
“Want me to give you a ride?” he offers, his protective side showing clearly.
“No, that’s fine. I’ll drive myself,” I answer before he can insist.

“Then please be safe on the road,” he says with real concern.
1 will.”
The elevator arrives with a quiet chime, and I step in.
But just as the doors start to shut, I faintly catch the sound of my aunt and Daelor’s voices drifting into the hallway.
By the time I want to catch what they’re saying, the elevator has already started its descent, and their voices fade away completely.
All I can do is hope my aunt doesn’t share anything too embarrassing about me..
Soon, I’m driving down the familiar street
heading toward Moonvalley High School.
Since it’s the weekend, the school gates remain locked tight. The only vehicle in sight is a sleek, black SUV with dark–tinted windows parked nearby.
Almost as if he senses my arrival through his Alpha instincts, the SUV’s door opens.
Alarion steps out smoothly, his amber gaze locking onto mine through the windshield.
“Aelira,” he calls as I park and get out.
“Where is Jornic?” I demand in a frosty tone, not wasting words.
I have no desire to exchange pleasantries or engage in idle conversation.
“Relax. You’ll be reunited with your brother very soon,” Alarion responds, his composure unwavering and almost infuriating.
He gestures with an easy motion toward the school building looming behind him.
“Does this place look familiar to you?”
My gaze lifts instinctively, sweeping over the well–known campus grounds.
Suddenly, memories surge before me, flickering like scenes from an old film. Every stone, every tile, each blade of grass here is ingrained in my memory.
The Alpha who once overshadowed much of my younger years is standing right here now.
Still, everything is so different from those innocent times.
For a brief moment, I am caught in a trance, overwhelmed by nostalgia tinged with both sweetness and regret.
When I return to myself, I notice Alarion watching me closely. There’s a complex expression in his amber eyes, something I can’t quite decipher.
*Come on. Do you
you want to go inside and have a look around?” he asks in a gentle tone. Without thinking, he reaches for my hand, the familiar Alpha heat radiating from him. I immediately sidestep his attempt, sharply withdrawing my hand.
