Aelira’s POV

My heart races as if it might leap from my chest, yet I manage to mask my emotions. I furrow my brow and assertively respond, “What nonsense are you spouting, Alarion?”
“Is that so?” Alarion retorts, narrowing his amber eyes in skepticism. “He made it clear earlier. He brought you here to witness a spectacle, and now that it’s done, you’re eager to leave?”
The accusation hangs in the atmosphere like a sharp blade. I sense the tension crackling among the three of us as Alarion casts a wary glance back and forth between Daelor and me.
Daelor smirks, sliding his hands into his pockets as he advances toward Alarion. The sound of his black leather shoes striking the polished floor generates a heavy, oppressive vibe, causing my wolf to whimper anxiously in response.
Alarion presses his lips together, his expression darkening, yet he fixes a fearless stare on Daelor. The intensity in his amber eyes has become almost frightening.
A playful glimmer appears in Daelor’s silver–gray eyes as he speaks.
“What if I am the father?” he questions nonchalantly. “What if I’m not?”
He allows a pause, letting the question linger in the air before he carries on.
S
“Shouldn’t this truth be verified? Why not? Are you so sure about your intended mate? Do you genuinely believe she remains loyal to you?”
Alarion’s expression shifts slightly, and I notice the veins on his forehead begin to protrude. The scent
of his wolf intensifies with barely restrained fury.
It dawns on me with chilling clarity that this situation cannot withstand scrutiny. Discovering whether
Cyrinne and Roderic are involved is not a daunting task, but the more challenging aspect is not the
verification of the truth.
Today’s events threaten to inflict a severe blow to the reputation of the Thunder Pack. The authenticity of the recording has become irrelevant since the Riven family has already lost its standing within the werewolf community.
“Alpha Briarhallow, don’t try to create discord between me and Alarion!” Cyrinne’s voice slices through the heavy air.
She struggles to mask her panic, her voice straining to stay steady. “Roderic and I are innocent, and the recording you just witnessed is entirely fabricated!”

In her desperation, Cyrinne clutches Alarion’s arm. “Alarion, you know me. How could I ever betray
you?”
Alarion instinctively pulls his arm back, a slight frown appearing at her touch. The subtle rejection is
unmistakable.
Cyrinne’s hands grasp nothing but air, and she stares at Alarion in disbelief. The blood drains from her face as the weight of his doubt settles in.
Suddenly, Roderic clasps Alarion’s shoulder from behind, his voice brimming with indignation.
“Are you out of your mind, Alarion?” Roderic challenges. “You’re questioning your intended mate because of a few baseless claims from outsiders? Even if you doubt Cyrinne, don’t you trust me? I’m your biological father!”
Alarion’s frown deepens slightly, and I detect a flicker of uncertainty in his amber gaze. The bond of
family is clearly at odds with his increasingly growing doubts.
“Moreover, Cyrinne is carrying your child now, you-”
Before Roderic can finish his thought, Cyrinne abruptly hides her face and starts to cry, cutting him off.
Tears flow from her emerald eyes, reflecting a heart shattered with anguish.
I can’t help but smirk subtly, amused by the drama unfolding in front of me.
t
Roderic is proving to be an awful teammate! At this moment, Cyrinne’s primary source of panic is likely
the ticking time bomb in her belly, and Roderic has just mentioned it out loud.
If the baby inside her truly belongs to Alarion, then everything would be alright. But the truth is that it
isn’t Alarion’s child – it’s Roderic’s!
Doesn’t this old wolf understand that a simple blood paternity test could settle everything once and for
all? Once Alarion’s doubts take root, he will inevitably question the earlier paternity test results.
When Alarion goes for another blood test, that will be the moment when both Cyrinne and Roderic find themselves exposed to public disgrace.
“My stomach… It hurts so much.” Cyrinne suddenly clutches her abdomen and groans in visible distress.
I can’t tell if she genuinely fears a miscarriage or simply realizes that this situation is heading towards disaster for her.
Alarion’s expression immediately shifts to one of concern. After all, the baby in Cyrinne’s womb could be his sole heir.

“What are you doing just standing there?” Roderic exclaims anxiously, his concern evident in his tone.
“Get her to Aethervale Hospital right away!”
Watching Roderic’s frantic demeanor draws an inward chuckle from me. His desperate worry clearly
reveals the true biological father of the child.
Alarion also displays concern for the baby in Cyrinne, but his worry seems more about duty than
emotions. He swiftly bends down to lift her and strides determinedly toward the exit.
I remain where I am, observing Cyrinne and Roderic in their state of panic, and I can’t help but smile.
slightly.
Just wait! This is only the beginning! Their punishment is yet to unfold!
“Why didn’t you pull out the paternity test report a moment ago?” Daelor asks, tilting his head to glance
at me.
A hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth suggests he already knows my answer.
Before I can reply, his smile broadens even more as he continues, “Let me guess your plan?” His silver-
gray eyes are alive with comprehension. “Since Roderic has already mentioned the child, you want to
plunge them both into a spiral of anxiety and torment. After all, the threat hanging over them could drop at any moment!”
He pauses, his grin widening. “Psychological torment is indeed the most agonizing of all!”
I return his smile, begrudgingly acknowledging that Daelor has accurately unraveled my intentions.
Daelor chuckles softly, clearly entertained by something. “But I’m afraid you might be disappointed…”
I can’t help but feel taken aback. “Why’s that?”
Daelor seems to find my confusion amusing. He raises his hand and gently scratches the end of my nose, an unexpectedly intimate gesture.
“You underestimate Alarion,” he explains patiently. “He was blissfully unaware of Cyrinne and Roderic’s prior affair, so it never crossed his mind. But now, do you think he won’t seek a blood test?”
The realization strikes me like a blow to the gut. Indeed, I have been considering Alarion’s potential reaction on a superficial level.
“It’s not important,” Daelor reassures me, his tone soothing. “Cyrinne must have already taken a prenatal paternity test. She isn’t naive and understands the implications. This kind of psychological torment is as effective as your initial plan.”
“That’s reassuring,” I respond, feeling a sense of relief from his words.

The absurdity surrounding today’s marking ceremony has had a much larger impact than I ever anticipated. Of course, Cyrinne’s previous fame amplifies the shocking nature of the scandal that erupted following the revelation.
For a period, the entire werewolf community is buzzing with chatter about the romantic relationship
between Cyrinne and Roderic. After all, a scandal involving such a wealthy pack is precisely the kind of
gossip that ordinary wolves crave after moonrise.
As the focus of public scrutiny, Cyrinne, who is also a well–known wolf healer, bears the brunt of the
backlash and faces harsh criticism online.
Her social media is inundated with crude remarks. Some users even adopt Roderic’s photo as their
profile picture, posting comments on her page referring to her as “Luna,” while others express their
twisted amusement.
Content about Cyrinne and Roderic’s affair dominates the trending searches, taking up almost the
entire top ten list. In terms of infamy, Cyrinne certainly achieves her goal, albeit not in the manner she
envisioned.
“Ha–ha, Aelira, did you catch how the network is roasting this scandalous couple?” Oriana gleefully
holds a tablet, skimming through the trending searches. “It had me laughing so hard I could hardly
breathe. Werewolves come up with the most inventive insults! The more they curse, the more I enjoy
it!”

I tilt my head to look at the tablet and spot a series of well–received comments at the top of the feed.
[Cyrinne pretends to be a respectable healer by day, but behind closed doors, she’s even more.
shameless than a rogue wolf! Both father and son are getting attention – I’ve learned something new
today!]
[I have inside information: Cyrinne had an affair with an older wolf in the Southern Territory previously, but it was kept quiet. It seems that the older wolf has likely been Alarion’s father all along!]
[I can’t grasp this. Cyrinne must be seriously troubled. Alarion is young, charming, and powerful, yet
she chose to engage with his father. What was she thinking? Is it possible that the older they are, the
better they are in bed?]
[What do you expect? Some she–wolves simply have a preference for older wolves. Didn’t you hear
Cyrinne call him “daddy” in that recording? It’s rumored that she grew up without a father. I worry she might be missing that paternal affection!]
I can’t help but shake my head and chuckle. When it comes to inventive insults, werewolves are truly unparalleled in their cruelty and cleverness.
