Chapter 85
Kaneeta didn’t sleep well at all that night. She had a series of
strange and bizarre dreams, but when she woke up and tried to
recall them, she couldn’t remember any specifics.
All she could remember was that, somehow, Woodrow seemed
to be in her dreams.
She must be losing her mind.
Half–awake, she fumbled for her phone on the nightstand and
discovered a text message from an unfamiliar number.
“Where are you?”
There was no context, and the sender didn’t identify
themselves.
But Kaneeta had a pretty good guess.
It was probably Edmund.
Because she had blocked his number, so now he was using a
new one.
Chapter 85
It seemed she really needed to get a new number herself, and
soon.
Of course, there was no way she would reply to that message. She deleted it right away, then opened WhatsApp and saw a
message from Miguel.
“Ms. Drayton, do you have time for dinner together tonight?”
He had sent it a little after five in the morning.
He was up that early?
“Sure,” Kaneeta replied.
As soon as she replied, Miguel immediately sent another
message: “Is there anything you’d like to eat?”
“You can decide.”
A little while later, Miguel sent her an introduction to a
restaurant.
“This restaurant just opened. I heard it’s pretty good. Want to
give it a try?”
Kaneeta looked it over and replied, “Sounds good.”
“Alright, I’ll pick you up at five in the afternoon.”
Chapter 85
“Okay.”
Meanwhile, at the Kuntz Group.
Edmund was sitting in his office, staring at his phone screen.
His gaze never wavered, as if he could bore a hole through the
screen.
On the screen was the text message he had sent to Kaneeta.
“Where are you?”
He had waited until now, but there was still no reply.
Last night, he had asked his assistant to check Kaneeta’s travel
records.
The assistant reported that they had checked every possible
means of transportation–planes, high–speed trains, regular
trains–but there was no record of Kaneeta anywhere.
Kaneeta… did she really think she could control him like this?
She couldn’t be more wrong!
When she came back, he was definitely going to give her a good
scolding, so she’d never dare to just up and leave like this again!
Chapter 85
“Knock, knock.”
Someone knocked on the office door.
“Come in.”
Edmund looked up and saw Nyasia coming in with a cup of
coffee.
“Ed, have some coffee,” she said.
She spoke softly, walking over to place the steaming cup of
coffee on his desk.
Edmund rubbed his brow. “Thank you.”
“No need to thank me,” she replied.
Nyasia smiled, but as her gaze swept over Edmund’s phone
screen and caught sight of the words “Where are you,” her eyes
darkened almost imperceptibly.
Edmund took a sip of the coffee, but his brows furrowed
slightly. He didn’t say anything, but set the cup aside.
Nyasia noticed and quickly asked, “Ed, is something wrong?”
“No, I just feel…”
