Chapter 77
“No need, his exhibitions are never short of staff.“”
Kaneeta muttered under her breath, “Then why are you telling
me this?”
“What did Ms. Drayton say?”
“Nothing,” Kaneeta replied, forcing a fake smile.
“Ms. Drayton, although your fake smile is beautiful too, I still
prefer your real one.”
Kaneeta’s lips drooped.
What real or fake smile, anyway.
She stopped smiling.
The car stopped at the gate of the Drayton’s villa, and Kaneeta
said goodbye to Woodrow.
“Thank you for driving me home, Mr. Hartwell. I’ll head in
now.”
As she finished speaking and was about to open the door to get
out, she heard Woodrow say, “Wait a moment.”
Chapter 77
“Hm?”
“Don’t forget about that meal you promised me,” Woodrow
reminded her earnestly.
Of course Kaneeta wouldn’t forget, but Woodrow’s seriousness
about it truly puzzled her.
“I won’t forget, Mr. Hartwell. Don’t worry!”
With that, she opened the door and got out of the car.
Just like before, Woodrow’s car didn’t drive away immediately.
He kept watching her until she walked through the gates of the
Hartwell manor.
It was only after Kaneeta entered her home that she belatedly
realized how harmonious the atmosphere between her and
Woodrow had been along the way.
This made a certain emotion in her heart threaten to rekindle.
This can’t happen.
Kaneeta’s face suddenly turned pale.
Woodrow was very likely to have a girlfriend, and she herself
was about to be engaged to Miguel.
Chapter 77
No matter how she looked at it, she couldn’t possibly…
And yet, she still had to invite him to dinner.
Would it just be the two of them dining alone?
After thinking it over, Kaneeta took out her phone and dialed
Woodrow’s number.
Woodrow answered quickly.
“Ms. Drayton.“”
Forcing herself to calm down, Kaneeta said in a steady tone,
“Mr. Hartwell, when I invite you to dinner, I’d like to bring my
friends along. Is that alright?”
She knew it wasn’t ideal, but it was still better than the two of
them dining alone.
Woodrow was silent for a moment before he spoke: “Ms. Drayton, if possible, I would prefer it to be just the two of us.”
Kaneeta frowned slightly.
There seemed to be a subtle hint of ambiguity in Woodrow’s
attitude–was this really appropriate?
She had wanted to bring up the matter of his girlfriend directly,
Chapter 77
but since Woodrow hadn’t made his relationship public, it
would be a bit presumptuous to mention it to his face.
So she could only say vaguely, “Mr. Hartwell, you can bring
your friends too. I’ll treat you all to dinner.“”
Woodrow said, “I don’t have any friends to bring.”
“Mr. Hartwell, please think about it again. I… I’ll hang up now!”
Without waiting for Woodrow to reply, Kaneeta hung up the
phone.
She took a few deep breaths. The night breeze suddenly picked
up, making her mind even clearer.
After all, those vague feelings hadn’t yet reached the point of
being uncontrollable.
Now that she knew he might have a girlfriend, she was even
less likely to let herself make a mistake.
Suddenly, her phone rang. She thought it was Woodrow calling
back, but when she looked, it wasn’t him–it was Felix.
Felix was Edmund’s brother. For him to call her at this hour…
Kaneeta frowned and hung up directly.
Chapter 77
But Felix called again.
Although Kaneeta no longer wanted to concern herself with
anything or anyone around Edmund, she was afraid Felix
would keep trying to contact her, so she decided to answer the
call and make things clear, hoping he wouldn’t bother her again.
