Chapter 53
If word got out, where would the Kuntz family put their face?
Nyasia glanced at Edmund and suddenly let out a cold laugh.
He was not her brother.
There was a marriage certificate between the two of them…
When they got home, Lila first gave Nyasia a bowl of sweet
soup, then busied herself preparing Nyasia’s favorite dishes.
But Nyasia had no appetite. After finishing the sweet soup, she
listlessly returned to her own room.
Edmund followed her in closely.
“Ed!”
Nyasia threw herself into his arms, standing on tiptoe to kiss his
lips.
But Edmund turned his head to avoid her.
“You…” Nyasia’s expression changed. “Are you disgusted with
me? Do you think that because I stayed in the detention center, you don’t want to touch me anymore?”
“That’s not what I mean.” Edmund frowned. “Nya, let go first.”
“I won’t!” Nyasia held him even tighter. “Ed, you’re acting so
strange. Do you not love me anymore? I’m your–your wife…
Edmund was silent for a moment, then spoke: “Nya, actually, I
wanted to discuss this with you.”
“What?” Nyasia looked up at him, bewildered.
“Since you returned to the country, your ex–husband hasn’t
bothered you again, has he?” Edmund said gently. “I think we
can go ahead and get the divorce certificate now.”
Nyasia’s face changed dramatically.
Although Edmund had mentioned before that they would get a
divorce certificate someday, she always thought he was just
saying it and would never really divorce her.
But now, Edmund actually wanted to go through with the
divorce?
“You–you want to divorce me?”
Edmund frowned. “The reason I married you in the first place
was to help you get rid of your ex–husband, to let him know you
were married so he’d stop bothering you. Over the past two

years, he seems to have calmed down a lot, and now that you’re
back in the country, there’s no way he can do anything to you
anymore. There’s no need for our marriage certificate to exist.”
Nyasia stared at him, then suddenly let out a cold laugh. “You
want to divorce me–is it for Kaneeta?”
“Neeta was supposed to be my wife from the start.” Edmund
didn’t deny it. “After we get the divorce certificate, I’ll find a way
to make my marriage with her real.”
“You bastard!” Nyasia pounded on him with all her strength,
tears streaming down her face. “I’ve given you so much, and
now you want to abandon me!”
“I’m not! Nya, I’ll keep taking care of you. How could I bear to
abandon you?”
Nyasia’s tears made Edmund’s heart soften completely.
“I don’t care, I won’t get a divorce with you. If you insist on
divorcing me, I’ll die right in front of you!”
With that, she turned around, pretending to reach for the
scissors on the table.
“Nya, stop it!” Edmund grabbed her. “Alright, let’s not talk about
this for now. We’ll discuss it later.”

But after saying this, he suddenly felt a hollow in his heart, a
wave of panic washing over him.
These days, Kaneeta hadn’t even spoken a few words to him.
But she had never brought up the matter of getting a divorce
certificate, so he thought she didn’t really want to separate from
him.
She didn’t even know their marriage certificate was fake. If she
really wanted a divorce, how could she not mention getting the
certificate?
She must still love him.
After thinking it over, Edmund felt he should make his
marriage with Kaneeta real as soon as possible.
But with Nyasia making such a scene now, he was at a complete
loss…
