Chapter 44
As Edmund spoke, his gaze fell upon Kaneeta’s red lips.
He raised his hand, as if wanting to reach out and touch her lips.
Kaneeta turned her head to avoid him. Looking at the shameless
man before her, she let out a cold laugh and immediately lifted
her foot to kick him.
“You!”
Edmund reacted quickly, immediately letting go of Kaneeta and
stepping back a few paces, causing her kick to miss.
“Are you crazy?” Edmund shouted angrily.
“You’re the crazy one.” Kaneeta straightened the wrinkled corner
of her clothes. “Getting handsy with your own secretary in the
office, Mr. Kuntz–if word gets out, what will happen to your
reputation, or the reputation of the Kuntz Group?”
Edmund looked at her cold expression, his Adam’s apple bobbing
twice. He blurted out, “You’re not just my secretary, you’re also
my…”
“Enough.” Kaneeta cut him off.
Chapter 44
A bitter look appeared on Edmund’s face. “Do you still remember
what day it is tomorrow?”
Kaneeta’s face was expressionless; she did not answer.
Of course she remembered.
But thinking of that day only made her feel sick.
“Tomorrow is the anniversary of the first time I confessed to
you…” Edmund continued, even looking as if he were lost in fond
memories. “I still remember how you smiled faintly and turned
me down. Back then, I thought, you were so cute, I liked you so
much, and I would never give up.”
That’s right–when Edmund first confessed to her, Kaneeta did
not accept him.
At that time, Kaneeta’s beauty was famous throughout the entire
university.
From the moment she entered as a freshman, countless people
had pursued her.
But Kaneeta didn’t accept any of them.
When Edmund confessed to her, she turned him down as well.
No one expected her to refuse, because Edmund was also a

prominent figure at school–handsome, from a good family. Many people privately said he and Kaneeta were a perfect match.
But at that time, Kaneeta truly didn’t like him. She didn’t want to string anyone along, so she simply and decisively rejected him.
Yet Edmund refused to give up and pursued her for more than
half a year.
In the end, she gradually developed feelings for him.
Finally, she agreed to be with him.
After they got together, Edmund said that the day he first
confessed to her was important too, so they should make it an
anniversary.
Every year after that, he would celebrate with her on that day,
giving her gifts…
“Neeta, I’ve already prepared your anniversary gift,” Edmund
said with a gentle smile. “You’ll definitely like it.”
Kaneeta had no interest in knowing what the gift was.
She only recalled what she had heard Nyasia say that night.
“If I hadn’t had a fight with Ed back then, how would he have
gone to confess to Kaneeta out of spite?”
Chapter 44
So the reason Edmund confessed to her in the first place was simply because he had quarreled with Nyasia.
He could have given up after she rejected him, but instead he
chose to keep deceiving her, to blind her, and in the end, dragged
her into the abyss.
Kaneeta clenched her fists tightly.
“Neeta, so much has happened lately, we’re both exhausted. Let’s
not fight anymore, okay?” Edmund continued to coax her. “Nya
was immature, but she’s been in the detention center for days
now–she’s learned her lesson. I know you’re insisting on pressing
charges against her because you’re jealous that I was good to her.”
Kaneeta abruptly pulled herself out of her memories and glanced at Edmund speechlessly.
