Chapter 43
The only reason she was still at the Kuntz Group was for that
project, not to continue being Edmund’s secretary.
Edmund waited for quite a while, but Kaneeta never came into
his office. Growing restless, he finally got up, walked out, and
approached Kaneeta’s desk. With a stern face, he rapped his
knuckles on her desk.
“Ms. Drayton, come to my office for a moment.”
Kaneeta frowned and looked up at him.
He hadn’t seen Kaneeta for several days, and now, looking at her
beautiful face, Edmund actually felt his heart skip a few beats.
“Mr. Kuntz, is there something you need?”
Edmund said in a low voice, “Stop making a scene. There are so
many people here. Do you really want to become the subject of
office gossip?”
Kaneeta: “.”

As long as he didn’t come near her, things like this wouldn’t
happen.
Still, she really didn’t want to make a scene in front of the other
colleagues in the executive office, so she stood up and followed
him into his office.
As soon as they entered the office, Edmund tried to take her
hand.
Kaneeta avoided him without hesitation and said coldly, “Mr.
Kuntz, please behave yourself.”

“Neeta, it’s been so many days already, and you’re still making a
fuss?” Edmund looked at her, displeased.
These past few days, he had been waiting for Kaneeta to come to
him and make up.
But she never did.
She had insisted on suing Nyasia out of jealousy, and now she
was acting all aloof again. Really…
“Mr. Kuntz, if you have any work–related instructions, please say
- so. If not, I’ll be leaving.”

She turned to leave, but Edmund suddenly spoke: “I sent someone
to bail Nya out, but it didn’t work. Neeta, what’s going on?”
Kaneeta’s hand paused on the door handle.

She turned back, looking surprised: “So you mean Nyasia is still in
the detention center?”
“Yes,” Edmund replied, his face dark. “She’ll be detained for at
least fifteen days.”
Kaneeta really hadn’t expected Nyasia to be held for so long. She
thought Edmund would do everything he could to get Nyasia out
quickly.
In fact, Edmund had tried everything, but he hadn’t succeeded.
It seemed as if someone had been secretly obstructing him all
along.
Seeing Kaneeta’s surprised expression, Edmund asked, “You
didn’t know?”
“I’m not interested in keeping track of her.”
Kaneeta only wanted to leave a record of Nyasia’s malicious
attack on her. She knew this incident wouldn’t really bring
Nyasia to justice, so she naturally didn’t follow up on it.
“Hmph.” Edmund sneered. “Someone has been going out of their
way to obstruct me and meddle in this matter. Neeta, who do you
think it could be?”
Immediately, Woodrow’s figure appeared in Kaneeta’s mind.
Chapter 43
Actually, Atticus could have done it too, but if Atticus really had,
he would have told her.
Since he hadn’t said anything, could it really have been
Woodrow?
Did he do it to stand up for her?
Seeing her silent and lost in thought, Edmund suddenly felt a
surge of anger. He grabbed Kaneeta’s wrist and pressed her
against the wall.
“Edmund, what are you doing! This is the office!”
“Neeta, what were you just thinking about?” Edmund’s eyes
burned with fury, as if accusing Kaneeta of letting her mind
wander. “Right in front of me, were you thinking about another
man? Hm?”
Kaneeta let out a cold laugh. “Edmund, don’t forget, we’ve already
broken up. No matter when or who I’m thinking about, it has
nothing to do with you.”
“Broken up? Neeta, those two words mean nothing to me, so stop
trying to use our breakup to threaten me.”
